Gasoline prices suck...(rant)

$1.12 last night here,it's been going down a cent a litre every day from a high of $1.19.How come vancouver which has an additional 5 cents a litre transit tax have cheaper gas than Merritt.

We all need to take a good look at what we "NEED", not what we want, in terms of transpotation. I see a lot of 4x4 SUV's being bought by people that only leave the hard top a few times a year. I have a v6, 5 speed, 2 weel drive truck that gets 23-25 mpg if I drive around 95 kph. I live in the country, with some roads that are poorly maintained, and I have not been stuck in years. If I didn't have to haul water, I would go back to the 4 cyl little truck I used to have that got 28-30 mpg.

Up here the vast majority drive a newer 4x4 truck. Cars are outnumbered 20-1 in the summer and at least 100-1 in the winter. My older 4x4 is now being used by my 17yr old daughter when I don't use it for hunting. The Jeep was purchased last week (used) for my wife to get around town in the winter and because they are fun toys :D The Hemi Quadcab is needed to pack us and our teenagers and to carry our camper while towing our 19' riverboat. A car is useless for our needs and without 4WD, you don't get off the pavement up here. Might have to trade the Dodge in on a new 3/4 ton diesel for the milage gain  ...KF

As of today, we're still paying $1.15 down here on the Rock. With Hurricane Rita heading toward the Gulf Coast, there was talk that gas prices would be jumping $0.75/L at 12 Midnight. One report said that it was going up even higher, up to $2.25/L   I'm praying the latter is Bull $hit, but I definitely see an ass raping by the gas companies coming our way.

I'd like to live in their world for a day. Where else can gasoline that was bought and paid for by the individual gas station owners at $1.15/L, suddenly, overnight increase in value geometrically! The government turns a blind eye, because they're raking in 50% of the "take." Should be a law that price increases aren't permitted until the current supply already in their tanks has been exhausted. That fuel has already been refined, transported and sold to the end distributor. There are NO additional costs related to it, so why should a Hurricane 3000 miles away have any effect on its price...unless the gas companies are "profiteering". During wars, "profiteers" are usually shot or put in jail...in Lieberal land they're given a pat on the back and told "good job!"

Well I am quite fortunate as I have a company vehicle (Freestar) and have my maintanance, insurance, and gas paid - I just have to submit personal mileage and pay tax on that ammount. But how long will they keep this up before they decide to put me into a smart car or worse.....no car

My wife drives a 2001 VW Jetts TDI and gets between 1000 - 1200kms on a tank of diesel (approx. $37.00 to fill). I know that if the van was mine and I didn't need the space it would be so gone. I fill up for $90.00 and I 'might' get 4 days out of it!!

Well our kids will definitely understand driving around all night in dad's car for $7.00 in gas!!

Still holding at $1.04
The other day when the rumor was it was $2 in TO & going to go higher here I filled the truck & all the cans I had $250 worth.I guess I will burn that in hunting season, when I go for moose. Buddy drew a bull tag & asked if I wanted to go with him. :D DAN>>>

Oil prices haven't jumped to high so I don't think we're going to see to much of a spike. The downgrade of Rita helped with that I do believe. But there are 3 refineries with leaks so I guess we'll see.
