Wanted to find out what peoples thoughts are on an Action Shotgun Match, and gauge interest.

Probably be up to 100 rounds, but I was thinking of adding a Clinic Portion to it as well, equipment, shotgun reloading techniques etc. etc., for an added fee!

This won't be an IPSC Match, so will be open to anyone with a shotgun, but will follow rules similar to USPSA!

Dates will probably be Nov.ish!

This event would be held at EESA!

Preliminary Round Counts!

103 Rounds Total

11 Buckshot 9 or less Pellet Buckshot only

9 Slugs......Most People use Low Recoil Slugs of some form or another

83 bird shot #4 or smaller

VERY INTERESTED.

So much so that I am in the early stages of trying to get my club to hold an event or two next year.

EESA can't be the only club doing this.

since you mentioned USPSA...

will you have a texas star???:D

(one can dream right?)

I am 100% in. Set the date quickly, many of us will need to rearrange our schedules to be able to attend. Just make sure the Nov dates don't conflict with open deer season dates.

Sounds like a great idea. But what are the USPSA rule differences for IPSC?
Also, how much ammo we'll need for that? Slugs, birdshot?

No real difference, but want to give people an idea of what to expect, just don't want to make it an IPSC event, so it opens it up to more people! I think there are some Equipment differences, but I/we just really want to get more people out and involved!

Not sure of a Round Count yet, as the thread title suggests, gauging interest

I would really like to see a clinic portion as well. I've been wanting stretch the legs of my benelli nova tac for a while. 100 rd day split between slugs, buckshot and birdshot would definitely fit the bill.

The idea is that IPSC matches require people to be members of IPSC and have their black badges. While this is a VERY good thing particulary when it comes to handguns.
The concept here is to provide a "gentle" introduction to Action sports.
Since everyone and their brother have a pump 12 ga in their locker we would like to get them out and use it.

7.62, lonedrone and I had such a great time at the Pan Am shotgun that we want to spread the joy.

I have never participated in any kind of organized action shooting events, but this looks like a great place to start. I have a short barreled 4 shot 870 that only has a front blade, no other mods. I'd be interested in the clinic and match (already voted) if I had all the tools required.

Cheers Will

You can call it an Action Shotgun match and still use the IPSC rules as a guideline (which most people will already know) As long as it's not sanctioned by IPSC...you won't have to be a member to participate.

Best for all involved (including your own RO's) to follow a rulebook they already know.

Sadly we do not have one..................

You are confused with the EESA wheel of chance.......

Damn it!

We seriously need a texas star up here.
would love to shoot one of those this year without having to get into the states. That's next year's plan.

............MAX start of 5 rounds

Just start with 5 or max at any time 5?
if its max any time, I'm bringing the semi.

either way, I'll be missing faster than anyone...this I guarantee!!!

Did I mention I'm in?
I'M IN!
