Geese decoying question

There was a time years back when I first started Waterfowling that the regulations that came with the Migratory permit stated it was illegal to leave decoys unattended in a location overnight. I don't know if that is still a valid reg but I can tell you this, it really won't benefit you other than wearing the look of your decoys out. I once lent a spread to a friend who left them out overnight thinking to go back the next morning to hunt and when he returned he owed me a brand new set of decoys. Someone had pilfered them.
