Gen 4 G17

Heres the video i was talking about. Sure its Nunfancy but the guy he is talking to is from Glock.

He shows how to reassemble the glock and reset the trigger bar at 11:07 to 11:09

I'll give you a $150 for it seeing as how it is extremely damaged ;), if it's not for you then it's not for you. Take it back and take a hit on it, or sell it and take a hit on it (preferably to me for the $150 :D). Or just take it to the range and shoot the sh*t out of it, you might end up liking it (who knows) and if you still decide to sell it at least you aren't losing money on it after never having fired it.

Give the guy a break, he overreacted, im sure he realizes it now, sometime you have preconcieved ideas about a firearm and when you get it, its not at all what you imagined.

Not sure what preconceived notion you could have about a Glock besides that it should go bang and be reliable. To each their own, I suppose.

WELL.... in this vast country of 34 and a half million people it turns out I shoot IPSC with this guy and didn't even know it. I walk in on the course an hour before we start and here he is talking about it!?!?!?!? So 3 of us stood around and took his gun apart and mine which is a bone stock gen 3. Popping the slide on and off. His gun definitely feels sloppy compared to my gen 3. Its almost as if you have to tilt the gun left side down and line it up all nice or the trigger bar smacks. And there is a mark on the gun(from taking the slide on and off) and its unfired where as mine is mint and its a range whore that over a dozen people have shot. There must be more than a handful of guy's reading this thread who have both Gen 3's and Gen 4's. Do you have to line the gen 4's up all nice compared to the gen 3's when re-assembling? Do they just feel looser? I can't comment because I've never taken one apart until a few hours ago. Were thinking it might just be a bad one off the line or there all like that. The OP might go back to the place and check another gen 4 out and see if its the same.

LOL - small world, huh? I think playing around with this Glock messed me up for my CZ, I felt very awkward out there and I believe the failures I had were related to the safety just slightly engaging enough to cause a problem. I fondled my Glock (pun intended) all afternoon, and I was able to get a really high grip, but that same grip seems to push the right side safety up a tiny bit.

I emailed John and he replied almost instantly, what a fantastic guy - I'm in good hands and will take a look at the options he provided me - huge thumbs up for William's Arms!

I don't know if it makes a difference but my G17 gen3 and G21 gen4 feel identical when re-assembling the slide. There might be something wrong with your G17 gen4. Take it back!

Its totally normal because of the new nipple on the trigger bar. It was an upgrade to lesson the flex and keep the trigger bar more inline with the FP safety plunger.

Just jiggle the slide abit when reassembling :)

The Gen4 is a geat pistol and dont let the internet scare you

:agree: The little bump on the trigger bar is the culprit and is on all the Gen 4's. You can do a cheap easy fix by replacing the trigger bar with one for a Gen 3. My Gen 4 does it also and I don't have a problem with it. That's just how it's designed. Just shoot it.

I to was wondering about that little bump on the reassembly of my gen4 Glock 34. Then at an October CQB Match I was able to get both 5 and 5 rounds into the face of the figure 11 target during match 4, advance and fire then transition. The gen 4 is working for me. And my #### is still intact.

So being the impulsive dummy that I am, I sold that fine G34 and bought a G17 gen 4. Since I received it, I have installed an Brownells 3.5# disconnector and shot it at the 10 November CQB match. All great fun. :)

Now I am ready for the zombie invasion and USA Fiscal cliff with my gen 4 G17

Hope the G17 can work for you , Danimal248!!!

Cheers,
Barney

Anyone care to post a pic of this 'bump'?
Is it strictly a gen4 17 issue?

I have a gen4 19, and once I start the slide, 1 quick pull straight back gets is seated properly every time. There is no bump or twist.

^thanks.

I guess some came with bent trigger bars then.
Mine works like the guys in the vid.

I completely stripped my m&p .22 to paint it, and when I reassembled it, the trigger bar was a little off, and the slide had a slight drag to it. I was able to bend it back the mm that it needed to work perfectly again.

It's pretty terrible that any gun could leave a factory with a bent anything, but I bet it could be fixed in no time at all if someone were to nudge it over following the cutout in the slide.

I am a huge Glock fanboy, and I gotta say, I though the OP was overreacting at first.
I'd be pissed if my glock didn't work right out of the box.
