Hey everyone, just need to do this as I would like to prevent anyone from wasting any more time on UTAS. I had received a new 2nd revision of the UTS 15 shotgun which I brought out to the range today and needless to say the gun would not even fire.... Looking into the issue to try and resolve it I have come to the fact that the bolt will not fully engage the receiver which prevents the firing pin from ever reaching the shells primer. I have managed to get a refund as I returned to my gun store and found that all of the other four that they had on hand have the same and if not worse of the issue. These issues may be only for the stock that my store has received but if a company makes a second revision that they don't even test, they should be run out of business! I hope this prevents anymore wasted time for anyone that is or was interested in the useless firearm which is the UTS 15.

Handled them a couple of times, once at a store, and another guy brought one to the Trap range and played a game shooting the clays!

My very first reaction was..."this is gonna hurt my cheek REAL bad if I shoot Magnum loads out of it!" Forget 3" shells...even a 2.75" buckshot Magnum hunting load would bruise bad. Where you put your cheek, it's basically a 90 degree plastic angle. Sooo.... you'd have to just shoulder it without looking at a bead, or a ghost ring, or anything really. I know it's a shotgun, but i don't see how youl'd get many hits with this unit!

Never handled a KSG, but were I in the market for this new "bullpup" pump shotgun, I'd not even consider the UTS15, I'd at least look at a KSG in the shops.

Who cares if this his first post? He's trying to alert you to his opinion that the UTS needs refinement.
After previously owning a KSG with the disintegrating fore end and "mysterious fire control pins" that attempt to escape from lower receiver I personally would have to give his opinion some serious consideration.
And it appears he's not alone.

Had to edit to add that,,,both these shotty's are super cool. But neither of them should have been released without having serious issues addressed first.

I had a TWN Suomi 9mm rifle that had the wrong bolt and trigger in it so they would never work together was kind of funny click click... odd whats going on... Take it apart looks fine mess around try again what the heck new hammer springs? call TNW week later boom in the mail that was quick put them in click click hmm still not working take it apart again call TWN for suggestions get the gun smith who said you might have the wrong trigger and bolt in the gun we had a new guy who put the orders for Canada together and he screwed some of them up luck of the draw. They offered to send a new bolt and hammer but I already fixed it by cutting the top of the hammer down by 0.5 which is allot. They had great customer service though and it was fixed so no complaints since. Someone did have the gun break in half though so for a 700 dollar gun I would stay away from that one too. Good warrenty though if it does break...

The UTS shotgun isn't that bad it has it's quirks but for the amount of money I wouldn't buy it not because it's ugly just because it has some design flaws. Most of them will work just like most suomi will work so if you like it and like the feel of it buy it. If not don't.

Just seems odd that he has nothing to say and thats the first thing he chooses to post and guns are like trucks they all need a few years to get the kinks worked out.

Lingerer ;)
I watched a couple reviews of the UTS and knew right away I wasn't buying one of them. Then I handled one in a local shop and my feelings were confirmed. I had heard the newer ones were better but I guess they still have a ways to go.

My KSG has about 100 rounds through it with everything from the cheapest walmart field loads (with aluminum not brass) all the way up to 00 Buck and reduced recoil rifled slugs and I haven't had a single failure of any kind other than when I didn't rack the forend all the way back. It kicks less than I expected and is an absolute blast to shoot. It actually makes pretty decent groups at 50yds with my EOTech XPS2-2 and the rifled slugs as well.
It's a brand new latest model by the way.

Just put a Pachmyer size medium decelerator and a Tapco shorty vertical grip on it and will be going out to play some more this week.
The forend rail is a little undersized (not milspec) but it works well with the Tapco.

LOVE IT!

I've seen them run both good and bad. Would I trust my life to one? NO! They sure rock in 3-gun...when they work. From what I've seen, they do require a break in period. I'll stick with an 870 for now. They are a real treat for any Range officer to see being unloaded and checked for clear lol.
