I don't consider Vet art bubba. This guy served and it the stuff he can do whatever he wants to it. Perhaps there's a story behind these pins, who knows.
I consider bubba someone who wS doing it in the 60s-now. Haha.
This could have been done in theatre even.
It's always a bubba job without provenance...
Calling it "vet art" or "trench art" is wishful thinking at best, or straight up misleading if trying to elicit more value for the item at worst.
If it's legit there is provenance, if not it's bubba. There is no in between.....IMHO of course.
Lol
I'd disagree with you. While the holster itself is worth less as a mint holster the sum of the parts is still worth more. And there is an accepted niche of vet art. Helmets have this niche as well. As well as belts with stuff pinned on. As desirable as an untouched original? No. But calling it bubba'd is a bit extreme.
The ϞϞ skull is worth more on the open world wide market alone then attached to the holster. An assessment on WAF suggested the skull alone could be $600usd. So whoever applied it didn't do it for financial gain. And didn't make it more useful or sporterizing. I didn't pay a premium for the trinkets, neither did the last owner.
So if they didn't do it for usefulness.
And didn't do it for monetary gain.
It's likely whoever did it didn't pay for the items, did not see them as valuable. Ie someone who obtained them like a vet.
It's an accepted area of the collecting world. You may disagree but in this case you are wrong.
Unless you can prove who did it, it's bubbas work. I have a nice Haer "Got Mittens" belt, i could pin a couple reichsmarks to it and tell a hell of a story and some fools would believe it, doesn't mean ####.
Bull#### has always been a niche in the collecting world, authenticity has always been there to weed that out. Make a claim, prove it. Speculation, prove it. Guessing, better be an expert on the subject matter.
The holster could have been slapped together by some KKK or skinhead loser rather then a soldier during or after the war.

Sure could have been, but if you'd consider the facts and be reasonable it's unlikely. When's the last time you threw $500 in the trash? Because that's what they have done here.
It could be real, or fake. No matter what, it's 4 pieces of nice ww2 militaria that came together somehow. You don't have to like it, or accept it. But lots of people do. It would be fukin easy to grab a nice holster and match it up. Not so easy to make this one. So it doesn't really matter. I'm not placing a premium on anything nor is it for sale. Besides I've Never seen you post anything relevant in this section before anyways. Seems like you wandered in just to add your .01.
By the way, reichsmarks are pretty much worthless and dirt common. Lol. So that wouldn't add much to your belt no matter who did it.
