Ok guys, time toget the spare tire whittled down for thehunt.
I've dropped twenty pounds over the last couple of months, and probably am in better shape than I was ten years ago. Morning walks, and just not eating junk.
What are you guys doing?

Yeah Bigredd, I know, if you lost twenty, you'd evaporate. Me, I could lose another twenty.

I hear ya, started doing a 20 minute brisk walk in the morning, a bit late, but I suppose better late than never.I am 59 and even though I really watch what I eat and how much-just can't seem to get below 210.

LOL i have actully put on about 45lbs since jan but its a lean 45lb of muscle
cant run so copious amounts of horizontal excercising is my pre-hunt workout regimen

My problem exactly. The evening is better for me and it helps to settle dinner. I have to started to carry some additional weight (fanny pack) and plan to work up to a my day pack. I'm starting slow as I have a couple of years on you.

It is better to work the kinks out now and not the first of November when you want to concentrate on other things. Hunting is tough enough and it sucks to ba an old codger.

Quit smoking, well, a couple of years ago now. Jogging / running not my bag so I ride my mountain bike or touring bike, on the highway mainly, 3 -4 times a week, 25 - 30km / ride. Helps keep the blood sugar level down as well.

20lbs off the body certainly makes that 20lb of gear and meat feel lighter...

At this rate, who wants to be my pack mule? LOL

I lucked out and my job this summer was to ride a bicycle for 10 hours a day, 4 or 5 days a week... Plus I started jogging again after a 10 year hiatus. Only lost about 12 pounds though!

I started walking at lunch at work, with a colleague. Now we walk/run for 5.5 km, each day at lunch. I have also changed my diet, and and somewhat following the GI diet. Initially I lost 10 pounds, but now with the running and taking in a little more carbs to keep the energy up for the run, I seem to be gaining some weight back!

Must be my leg muscles growing and getting heavier.

Have joined a "body toning" class that starts in Sept, for two times a week, and will continue to walk/run as much as I can. Hockey starts Sept too. I hope to be in much better shape, for walking the bush this year, then I was last year.

Its got more to do with diet than light excersize.

Really, walking doesnt do anything, it doesnt get your heart rate high enough to burn calories. But not eating tons of sugar (beer) and junk food (chips, pop) you can really lean up...i know, im down about 20lbs too.

Way to go guys!

Bull! Walking does lot's! especially hiking up hills. Tones your butt, thighs, legs, stomach, good for the heart because your pumping! What you are eating definetly effects your weight and health.

Congrat's to the one's who are helping themselves! :beerchug: ;)

I drink beer only for supper. Works well. I find by the time I finish a few tins of my supper. I feel great and sleep great too! Give it a try Bob.

Dave.
