Yep, 3-5 month delivery for a match AR barrel to my specs. I am not in a hurry and have other guns to shoot in the meantime, getting what I wanted was more important than getting it fast.
If they were removed from the named restricted list I think there would be a massive run on 18.5" barreled AR's. I know lots of people that would buy one if they were NR, even with an 18.5" barrel.

I highly doubt the Company in the states will make 18.5" barrel ar15 just for Canada after what happened recently.
And to swap a barrel out on the XCR takes perhaps 30....to cutdown the barrel of any firearm might take 60. Yet we are trusted to behave with those. How quickly and easily it can be done is irrelevant as we demonstrate that we follow the rules (by and large) with our existing non-restricteds.
Expect a complete Semi-Auto ban (no grandfathering), or an addition of Semi-Auto weapons to an NFA (and see transfer taxes going to $2000).
Congress will not do it, so expect an Executive Order, he's run around congress more than any other President in the past (with just one term under his belt) the fact he has no re-election ability leads him to not caring about the Political future.

Now that right there is scary stuff and I don't doubt for a second that it is being hashed around in the bama world.
You could only hope the proposed law could be that Draconian. Then the NRA challenges it before the Supreme Court and it'll get struck down as un-Constitutional. Once that takes place, no President would have the political will to re-introduce such laws. The AWB expired in 2004 and there has been absolutely zero will to bring that back - until now.
How could they possibly have no grandfathering under the circumstances? There's got to be millions of AR's in the US and you can bet even modest civil disobedience in not surrendering them would make the law a complete flop.

This. The writing is on the wall. If anyone thinks nothing will come of this, they are dead wrong. It's going to be bad, really bad. And it will trickle up here. You can bet your ass that CFGC, Soros, and all their ilk are going to come out swinging in this country.
There will be a LOT of pressure from the Democratic party on Obama to NOT impose draconian anti-gun measures because they will have to face the voters in the 2014 mid-term elections. They don't want to get voted out.
Which could mean what? Some States will decide to break off of the Union (like when CCW was a big political issue), or large scale civil disobedience ????
a total ban, even just on AR's, let alone semi autos, would likely see the states that are ALREADY trying to secede boil over, and while I doubt it would be civil war, I dont see them complying, not by along shot...
