gevarm e1 .22

From the FunGun website I learned the website for the maker of their mags and drums. Will try calling them tomorrow for some info on costs. If I learn anything useful I'll post that info here.

The last model Gevarm was called the E1 Export....made in the 80's before the factory closed down. I have one new in the box with 8rd and 20rd magazines....

can14, I was told by someone in Australian or New Zealand, not sure, that the French-made export to the West was designated E1 while the European model was E2. Only difference in the European models was they had the threaded muzzle for silencers.

My A7 has that threaded muzzle. I've always wondered if it had a different model designation when meant for export. Or, if they even made the A models intended for export to the West.

I certainly envy you your NIB E1.

Mine is the European E2 Export Model. All they did was put a front sight over the end of the barrel and "tapped " it for a set screw to hold it in place. I have the 8rd and 20rd magazines. It has a certificate from Chambre De Commerce Et D'industrie De Saint-Etienne. I imported it with some others direct from the manufacturer...........

Group buy ?? ??

I have an A3 in almost pristine condition. A friend sold it to me for $50 but had lost the magazine. Another chap in N. Ontario had a clip for it and sold it to me for $90.
Well worth the investment as it is one sweet little pea shooter.
If it, like any other older rifle, has been sitting forgotten in the back of someone's closet for a while, it's a good idea to give it a real good cleaning with spray brake cleaner to get the "gunk" out.

Apparently Western Shooters Supply in Alberta is making them. I had an email from them last year when looking for one and they mentioned that they were getting ready to do so.

Not long ago I saw where someone had figured out how to take a 50-rd (Pietta or Bingham, not sure which brand) PPS-50 .22rf drum and put a different feed on it to fit the Thompson A3, AND IT WORKED!

Somewhere on this globe, Phillipines, or Italy maybe, someone has perfected the .22rf drum for semi-auto weapons. There's one on the market now for under $70 for the Ruger 10/22. Why can't one of those simply have the feed-end of a Gevarm mag welded onto it?

I'm not into the mechanics or manufacturing, but it seems to me someone dropped the ball when they came up with that group buy of the repro Gevarm 20s a couple of years ago, and reported here in CGN forums their success with those mags. The number of Gevarm owners who would buy an inexpensive reproduction of those 20-rd mags is still enormous. But try digging out that info. I tried and got nowhere.

I wonder if the folks who produce the Fun Gun kits for the 10/22, just maybe the drum for their Tommy Gun kits would be easy to convert to fit the Gevarm?

deanner, if the manufacturer has to start from scratch the cost would prohibitive, no doubt. Since I'm NOT rich, I'd have to go the group buy route.

Haven't learned anything new yet. Got other fish to fry this morning so will not get around to phoning that company 'til later in afternoon. Will get back here IF and when I learn something new.

By the way, I knew a few guys named Dean in the Vancouver Island area MANY moons ago when we lived there. Your CGN public profile doesn't say WHERE in BC you're located. Just wondering if we may have met back then.

I did work in victoria on the naval for a year but that was way before my gun days. I think that was about 4 years ago. Now I'm back on the mainland.

do you have a email or a phone number for these guys. I can't seem to find them.

UPDATE: I talked with one of the guys at the mag-making place out in CA this afternoon. Guy I needed to talk to was not in. I got an email address and sent the info that way. Guy I talked with says everyone involved out there read ALL incoming emails and they should find our situation of interest.

So, now it's just a matter of waiting to see if the right guy answers. Soon as I hear anything solid - good OR bad - I'll get back to everyone.

I found a place that is making 10rd clips that will be ready for sale in may sometime. Group buy?? This guy is out of alberta. They said that 1 round is the biggest they will be making b/c other contries have restrictions on mag capacity.

deanner, are they asking for minimum $$ purchase, or what? What kind of price each? Need lots more details. There are many potential buyers down here too, many of whom would have no clue about CGN.

I have no idea... I thought about that after I posted that and sent them a email about price. They never mentioned a min. order. I didnt ever think of that. I did ask if they could keep me posted and they said nope b/c they have too many ppl asking about them. I'll post up a price tomorrow whn they email me back. I might call them tomorrow aswell to see if we can get a discount if we purchase in bulk.

Good man. Keep us informed. I just got an email saying my message had gone to the personal email of "the right guy" to get my query. Maybe I'll hear back by tomorrow.

Whenever, I'll keep everyone up to date.
