Ok in a pump action shotgun ghost loading can add 1 more round but in a semi auto it you can add 1 more round as well. I've found out if I ghost load my Fabarm SAT 4 (semi auto) It's designed for 3 inch and it can only hold 4 in the tube 1 in the chamber but if I goto target loads I 2 3/4 I can fit 5 in the tube and 1 in the chamber but if I load 1 more as a ghost load I can fit 1 more I know it's meant for 3 inch so it only matters for that one but the question is if I ghost load 5 3 inch and 1 in the chamber it's still legal. Some 2 3/4 inch shotgun shells I can fit 6 in the tube and still ghost load 1 more giving me 7 rounds out of a semi auto shotgun as long as I shoot the smaller ammo ie not 3 inch. So is this legal or not since it's designed and manufactured for 3 inch shells and can only hold 4 in the tube unless you ghost load and then it's 5 and 1 in the chamber.

its totally illegal....just don't do it

I disagree.

Ghost loading has nothing to do with magazine capacity. Hunting regs are a different animal though. I wouldn't do it if I where hunting.

Its a common practice with the guns that are capable of it. Many here on this board say its a selling feature for guns like the Benelli M4 or Mossberg 930's. I did the mod to allow my Benelli M2 Tac to ghost load. Others here have done it to.

It might explain why they pinned the tube to 4 instead of 5.... Since it's 3 inch that matter not the 2 3/4.

Not illegal at all, within the specs of the shotgun i never say ghostloading and you dont modify it, so... JP.

Very serious.
I have it on good authority that ghost loading is like witchcraft, and the firearm in question should be burned and destroyed.
It even has the word ghost in it...that should be all the evidence necessary!!!!!!!

The magazine is the magazine.
Everything else is whatever it is.
With regards to capacities, the magazine cannot hold more than 5 of the largest shell the firearm was designed for.
If a 3" gun cannot hold more than 5 3" shells in the mag, it is legal and good to go.
It doesn't matter how many 2 3/4, 2 1/2, whatever shells it can hold.

It can only hold 4.... with 1 in the chamber making 5 so it's less then that.... But you can cram in 7 2 3/4 rounds in there...

Ghost loading isn't putting a round in the magazine it's putting a round under the bolt so when the firearm fires it picks up the next round under the bolt fires and loads the next one. The lifter arm is what is holding the round so you have 2 in the reciver at the same time. To do this you pull the bolt part way back then push the arm down while holding the bolt back and drop a round in there and slowly close the bolt over top of the round. That's how it works I couldn't get it to work on my domino arms 870 because I changed the follower to allow 3 rounds instead of 2 and if I ghost load it just won't fit by a hair. Wanted 4 plus the chamber making 5 out of an 8.5 inch shotgun.

If you really want to get whacky...
put a magazine extension on your gun, make sure its permanently limited to 5.9 3" shells (can't hold 6 3") and your gun will have a capacity of 8 2 3/4" shells and be legal.
6 in the magazine, one in the chamber, and one ghost loaded.
Although I would suggest against ghost loading. As previously discussed, it is evil and potentially harms kittens.
