Girl from Ottawa, On saying hello!

Thanks! I started all this just with the idea of only target shooting. But my mind is a bit more open to it all now. I think I'd like to get into hunting. But I'm going to start small, haha. Don't know if I can see myself shooting a deer! But ducks I'd like to start at. Maybe take the turkey course and check that out. I hear it's a lot of fun.

Hi, welcome. I hope to see you in the ladies forum with us. When I first started to be interested in hunting I also thought I would only hunt small game with a .22. Before the course ended, I had bought a compound bow for deer hunting. Unfortunately I had a stroke that summer (not fun for a fit 22 year old) and could no longer pull the bow (I can now). I ended up buying a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser for bear. I shot my very first bear with that rifle. Now I am interested in hunting everything and shooting anything. Now I am interested in handguns and will take the course as soon as I am out of the UK. I found the turkey course a very long boring day but turkey hunting is fun. As you can see this whole gun thing is very addictive and time spent hunting is paradise!
You may find that your collection will slowly grow, I hope you enjoy it!

Yes, I was very active and fit too so it wasn't something that I thought could happen. I remember learning to walk again thinking about all the times I had gone running and thinking it was for nothing. Of course that isn't true at all, I just was still trying to deal with it. It does happen to many that are young. There was a baby at the hospital that had one and kids get them too. It is just unexpected. I actually went 3 days undiagnosed because the doctors at the Guelph hospital said I had anxiety issues. I had to go to Kingston and see my family doctor who figured it out. I am mad because I would't have these side effects if the doctors at Guelph would have treated me.
Shooting has been amazing therapy, it really helped me to get more control back in my arm that will never be normal again. After I got out of the hospital I shot a lot of trap and it was very good therapy for steadiness and concentration. Shooting to me is more than just fun, I look at it as necessary for good health!

Are you a firefighter? I just noticed from your name, my Dad is also a firefighter (in Kingston). He teaches a lot of courses in different towns around Ontario during the summer.
