Girsan Regard Thread

I got a full size, with rail. I didn't want a rail, but it was another mistake. Partially mine partially thiers.

Its nice tho, I really like it. Having not shot it yet, I can't comment on that.

its my first non striker pistol, so the DA trigger is tough, but I am sure I will get used to it.

2 more mags are here, and the mag pouch is in the mail. holster is almost in the mail.

I will have to learn about being safe with a hammer fired pistol and using it in IDPA.

Is it black or stainless?

Black, its really nice looking too!!

I got to shoot it tonite, IDPA practice. It runs really well. I shot 4 different kinds of ammo thru it, factory and hand loads, all 3 common weights, nickel and brass, and all FMJ/TMJ. Not one malfunction of any kind, at all. It was perfect. Nearly 200 rounds too. Yes, I know, I need another 1000 thru it before I can really say anything, but this was excellent.

And its REALLY accurate, especially for a cheap bone stock automatic service pistol.

I was shooting from 10 meters, with strong hand, weak hand and both hands, standing. I was able to group about saucer size, and most of that was in the middle half of that. many shots were touching or almost touching.

We went back to 25 meters and I put 13 out of 25 in a 3x3 square!! and about 5-7 more were just outside. This is with the gun just as it came out of the box, mixed ammo(some of each in my mag), and my first night shooting it.

VERY impressed.

One negative, I don't like the decocker/safety sticking up above and to the sides of the slide serrations. its not natural to rack the slide like this, kind of a pain in the butt. Way more natural with my Ruger SR9.

Oh, speaking of that, my holster for the Ruger almost fits. Its good enough for practice anyways.

Stuck a solid steel wolf guide rod in my full size, gives it a little more weight at the front. Also got a taller ninety-two rear sight to try....might be enough to raise poi enough for the 115s

Anyone know who the Girsan canadian distributor is? I love my Regard MC, its a great pistol very well made, great price point....now that im hooked on Girsans I really want one of their MC21 and a MC1911 as well! Thought I might contact them and see what the chances are of seeing these 2 other models brought in.

Wow, you can actually feel the weight? That's sensitivity (probably a good thing). I just put a steel Wolf guide rod in my 92FS and I didn't notice a difference in weight...but then again, I haven't had the beretta for very long, and I've only shot it once. Will try to take it to the range this week to see if I notice a differnce in performance (I probably won't).

Definitely have peace of mind with the steel one over the factory plastic one though.

my guide rod is already steel, and pretty heavy.

I got mine from that place in Saskatchewan, and they have lots of other Girsand pistols, not sure if they do carry the 1911 or any of the other oddball ones

so earlier i posted that i had about 2 malfunctions within a couple hundred rounds..

switched to frog lube and kept the Girsan clean and back to shooting amazing! i have around 1500-1800 rounds through the gun with only those 2 failures (ammo related most likely)

Where did you order your mag pouch from, if you don't mind me asking?

i'll just join this too then.. i got my magazine pouches from DoubleTap Sports (Ghost 360 mag pouches)

And the holster from Brant Shooting Sports (BladeTech DOH)

Thanks for the update. Good to see that You are happy with your pistol :)
How far are the targets set at your range?

I will be making a complete video soon, range visit, teardown, overview and my general thoughts once I hit around 2000 rounds (then I should have a clear thought on my final impressions)

That video was at the regular members range, 25 yards away.... quite the distance, I was at the range with a guest so we weren't permitted to go onto the Action Range (Where I normally shoot). The targets there are set up from 5-15 yards or so, wherever you place them.

Quick question, I saw this somewhere i'm sure but can't find it.. The Hammer Spring for the 92 and Girsan are the same right? I want to get the Hammer D Spring to lighten up the DA shot, since as it sits right now it is rather harsh

I just picked one up. Where are you fellows getting extra mags from? Thanks in advance.

just as everyone else said, Northern Republic Magazine have everything you need.
The Mec-Gar - Beretta 92FS/M9 magazines will do the job
Or the Beretta 96 ones if you wanna squeeze a couple extra rounds of 9mm in em

Mine seems to like one type. 9mm Luger, AKA 9x19NATO ;)

hehehe, I mean its not picky at all. In fact I loaded a couple of mags up with 115grn, 124grn and 147grn, some storebought some commercial reloads, some full power, some target. Absolutely no problems at all. rapid fire, slow fire, double taps etc. Some were rounded tips, some were flat nose etc. Hell some were aluminum case even. I have never had this pistol fail to do anything, except cost me lots of money.
