Glock 17 Gen 4 ... broken firing pin?

rockyourglock or glockparts, both charge roughly $10 - $14 for shipping via USPS.

You can definitely get that replaced under warranty the question being are you willing to wait or go through the hassle of doing so?

P.S. Maybe even brownells but I'm not sure what they export.

Maybe not to you, and definetly not myself. But to a lot of guys here on CGN. $20 is a lot of money.

Normally, there is no point in pursuing these ridiculous arguments. But sorry, this one's funny. Even an 11 year old with an allowance doesn't think twenty bucks matters, they can't even buy a DVD. If 20 bucks is a lot of money, you absolutely cannot afford to shoot.

I know your purpose is to try to emphasize your preference in pistols as superior in some aspects to the Glock. Unfortunately the XD is not, though it's an alright pistol. A striker being $19 cheaper (actually $10, compared aftermarket parts) is really quite funny. I appreciated the levity.

if you clean your gun and put too much oil down in the firing pin chamber you will get light primer strikes, Glocks need minimal oil, a bit on the slide, clean the barrel and your good to go. Too much oil leaks in that firing pin channel you will have the problems you describe.

I recognize this, however if you look at the picture I posted on the first page of this thread, the striker obviously has a broken tip.

OP; what ammo brand are you running? I'm curious if "hard" primers have caused a premature wear/breakage issue.

As for ammo, nothing abnormal, American Eagle, Blazer Brass, and Remington UMC are the only brands I've used in this pistol so far.

...it's not the ammo then. Some of the eastern European cartridges have harder primers than our NA manufacture. Do you do any dry fire practice with snap caps, perhaps the striker is bottoming out in the cap?

I really don't believe this to be "normal" I also have a G17 gen 4 with thousands of rounds thru it and I can't even see mine as having been worn. Something caused yours to break IMHO. (Incidentally, mine has more dry fire practice than I can count)

Yeah I believe I'm just another victim of this MIM nonsense. A little disappointed but in this day and age, seems that almost everything is manufactured to fail (except for Glocks I thought ha ha ha!)

No snap caps, no dry fire practice. It's probably been dry fired less than 20 times. Anyway I'm awaiting a Lone Wolf striker, we will see how that works.

And speaking of Eastern European ammo, anybody run that Tula (Tulammo?) 9mm? Is it worth trying or STAY AWAY??

I'm hesitant. They spell "Luger" "Lugar"....
