Where are you from? Im able to bring guests to TS, so you could shoot with me instead of a range officer from them...That way you can buy ammo outside TS and get better prices and shoot more. I have a modded G17 with a trigger kit in it, a stock G19 with threaded barrel, and A Glock 21C....I should get my LATT any day now. I have been 2 times already to shoot the club guns, but it gets expensive because you have to buy their ammo to shoot in their guns. In those 2 visits I spend $400 in ammo. For that price I get 1000 rounds online
I shot almost all the hand guns at TS and the Glocks just work the best for me, so Im doing the Glock thing for now...A guy was there that competes production IPSC one day when I was there, he let me try his Tanfoglio Xtreme II. That was an amazing gun! But it was also in the $2500 price range, and he was using 147gr ammo he packs himself....That will probably be my next pistol purchase, something higher end like STI or Tanfoglio
Do what I did and go to a store and hold them all (and by all I mean Ruger, Sig, H&K, Walther, etc). I was previously a Glock fan, but when I held all the brands in my hand it was the S&W and Walther that felt the most comfortable.
The Glock shape I had been used to all of a sudden felt terrible. I don't mind the blocky look, but the blocky feel is just horrible compared to everything else that's available now. Glock may have been able to get away with it 15 years ago, but no longer.
However, S&W is universally reviewed as having the worst trigger in the category, where at least the Glock's is okay.
Taking all of these things into consideration, and researching it even more, I made the decision to buy the Walther PPQ because it was super comfortable, had amazing quality, and had the best trigger in the category. Most of the ones in Canada are the M1 model with the paddle mag release on the trigger guard, but I went with the harder-to-find M2 with the conventional button mag release.
I know you're primarily asking about Glock and S&W, but both of those pistols have compromises. Go with the Walther if you want the best of all worlds, and you're willing to pay a bit more. ###y as heck, too:

The thread should have ended when they said to take both out and decide for yourself.
For what it's worth my first pistol was the M&P 9mm. It has a nice grip, crappy trigger, and everything else people said on this thread. I sold it and bought a Glock 17. Better trigger by default, and all the other stuff already mentioned.
I'll stick with my Glock, and bought a .22 upper for when I take new shooters out. Something the M&P doesn't have (to my knowledge).
I live in Ajax.
Am I still allowed to come with you as a guest even though my PAL hasn't come in yet?
Yes just like when you shoot there with no PAL now, only difference is I would be responsible for you instead of a range officer, so I just have to stand within arms reach of the firearm. The cost for you to be my guest is $20, we can use any of the range guns but we have to buy their ammo to use in their in guns. Or we can use my guns, and then we can use my ammo that I buy for cheaper in bulk...Its cheaper to shoot my stuff because of the ammo, and it should also be nicer because all of my guns are brand new at the moment.
I have already been there once with a guest that has no PAL, he loved it, but we shot range guns because I didn't have my LATT yet. And he really got a chance to see how different brand/model guns work for different people, I cant remember if it was a .40 desert eagle or a .45 Baretta, but there was one gun he tried that he couldnt even hit the paper with at 10 yards. It was pretty funny cause I joked that maybe they gave us blank rounds.
And I just called the CFO about an hour ago, they said my LATT was issued yesterday, so I sent an Email to the gun club guy for him to fax or Email me a copy...As soon as I receive that I can go with my own pistols, and they already told me last week when I called that my member badge/key card is there waiting for me also
I own a Glock and a S&W MP22. Go with Glock. The M&P is a knock off of them.
They are both polymer-framed striker-fired pistols but have very little else in common.
Your question is the Chevy/Ford debate of the Polymer pistol world. Both put holes in the paper it's just about how it feels in your hand. My advice skip the 9mm go with the .40 s&w.
Heavier, lower capacity, more complicated and less reliable. Only someone that is blinded by bias wouldn't admit that a 1911 is an inferior pistol. This from an ex 1911 lover. You can even find Glock and polymer bashing comments in plenty of my older posts.
You forgot TDC. Need your input!Misanthropist?

Dude....are you drinking your bath water?
I have many thousand rounds through Glocks and 1911's.......sold my Glocks long time ago.
What about the Walther PPX?
I saw this army surplus has it in a range kit.
