Hey guys,
My first handgun was this G17 gen 3 and I have had reliability problems since I first owned it. So not knowing anything then, I bought this thing knowing full well it had been pieced together. The guy I bought it from put a G22 frame on a 17 slide assembly. It didn't work very well when I first bought it because he left all the G22 parts in the lower however he took it back and fixed the problem.....kinda. I was getting 1 ftf every 100 rounds when it was "fixed", now im getting 1 every mag and that's if I'm lucky. What it's doing is not locking fully back into battery but even when it does sometimes the trigger spur falls off the hammer spur and slips. When it doesn't return to battery usually a good hit to the back of the slide fixes it :bangHead: but even then it can look complete fine but misfire. The trigger feels like it is pulling back the firing pin because I feel the spring tension, then all of a sudden it feels like it slips off and the trigger goes completely lump. If you eject the round, 95% of the time it has a light primer strike on it. One range session a few months ago I just kept putting the round back in to see how many times it would take for it to go off, the answer is 3 and all the primer strikes were in a different spot on the primer. Ammo is not the problem as I have tried everything imaginable and it has not fixed it. What's your thoughts?

Thanks

The only issue I can see coming from a g22 frame on a 17 slide is ejection issues as the geometry of the ejector is slightly different.

The most important question you didn't give us was what kind of ammunition are you using? Knowing which will help us rule that out.

Barring that, sounds like it could possibly be a recoil spring issue. If the spring is severely worn or shot, that would explain why it won't seat fully into battery, and possibly not keeping it in battery.

I had a similar problem and the solution was to change the connector, sometimes a previous owner modifies the connector in an attempt to lighten the trigger pull. If it's bent too much it can actually ride on the slide enough to stop it going fully into battery. Another area to inspect is the firing pin safety and spring, inspect these parts to insure the spring is not installed sideways or the firing pin is not sticking in the slide. The malfunction you describe can be caused by these parts being defective or incorrectly modified, good luck and I hope this might solve your problem...

Ah I've never heard of that before. I've replaced the firing pin and safety plunger because of signs of wear. Is there any wear signs I should look for on the connector?

The entire upper is G17. It's the lower/trigger that I think is the problem.

Yes, and the ejector is on the trigger housing, attached to the frame. If it's the original trigger housing, it'll have a 22/40 cal ejector and not a 17. Again, not related to your issue, but it's the only issue I can see arising from a g22 frame with a 17 slide.

A G22 and G17 lower are identical. It's the trigger group insert that is different, and even then, it's only the trigger spring housing that is different in the shape of the ejector.

If it's mis-firing, the the issue is in the upper. If it's not ejecting cleanly, then it could be a lower issue.

Glock.... Perfection.

:)

Yeah, blame Glock for a gun some guy through together from a bag of OEM and aftermarket parts from different models and calibres of Glock. Definitely Glock's fault. If it were any other gun, the parts would not even be able to be assembled together at all.

Some of the glock hate is really difficult to understand on these forums.

That guy obviously didn't bother reading the original thread or even page 1. Some people read the title and just jump in.

I'm not trying to be a d*ck, but WTF are you talking about? Please use the right terminology so the rest of us can follow along and help out..
