just received my G19X today and skipped out to the range and ran 100 rounds through it as a quick break in.
came home, stripped the pistol down and gave it a nice bath in G96 and did a little color filling (i just love the look i have to do it on all my pistols and magazines now!).
so now i find myself sitting here wondering why i am enjoying this pistol so much....
its no secret, im a M&P fan boy.
i dont pretend not to be and i still shoot them a heck of a lot more then i shoot my glocks, but i must admit.... i really like this 19X !!
ya, these ones!
i was sitting here trying to figure out why i like it.
its feels..... right.
so i went and got my 19 and my 17C out of the safe and now i have all 3 here with me and im comparing them.
my 17 sits way too low in my hand, the bore axis is super uncomfortable for me and it scares me that it will some day peel some meat off my chubby hands and the forced finger grooves on the 17 are not bad... but im not a fan.
and having no ambi furnature for a left handed shooter is something i dont enjoy.
but, the gun is a tank!
ive beat the hell out of this 17 over the years and it still runs like a top, you have to respect that!
the 19, i just picked this up a year or so ago and like the smaller size better than the 17 but the finger groves!!!!!!
OMG i hate them so much!
they could not be in a worse place 'FOR ME', they force my fingers to squish into the slots that are too small for me and my poor pinky is left straddling the last one like a fat kid stuck crossing over a fence.
but, again, the gun runs flawless and i really like the size.
so in comes this 19X.
it sits low in my hand like the others do, so i put the beaver-tail on, bingo!
forces it higher up in my hand.
the no finger grooves make my grip feel sooo much more secure and comfortable.
and the ambi furniture is a nice touch for me being a left handed shooter.
but how does it run?
very good!
very good indeed!
not one failure and out of the box i put 50 rounds into a fist sized group, reloaded and did another first sized group.
ok, i had 2 or 3 little buggers wonder away, damn flyers, but 98% of them where right in there nice and tight grouped.
ate a hole right out of the middle of the targets.
and it felt great to shoot, and for me being a recreational shooter that is super important.
im enjoying this 19X so much that i told my dad (who has been eyeing my 17C for years) that he can have my 17C and i might even flog off my 19TB as well as it just feels nasty in my hand now after shooting this one.
all in im super happy with my purchase!
(and that from a S&W fan boy!!)
couple quick pics, the color is freak'n super nice!
its funny, some times ill look at it and think the slide is a lot darker than the bottom then ill see it in a different light and they are the exact same..... only thing i can think is that its the new coating that makes it kinda change color depending on how much light ya have on it.
like right now i look at it on my desk and its 2 very different colors of tan, then i pick it up and presto bingo its all one uniform color.
strange but kinda neat!
anyways, some pics!
the arrival!
ohhhh tan glock box!
that is one hella full box!
first pic right out of the box
i can never see the magazine numbers so i have to color fill them, so colored and numbered
wasnt going too but i was doing the magazines so i color filled the gun too
put on the beaver-tail back-strap and out to the range!
