Went out to pick up some 9mm for my workhorse to go to the range.

Stopped in at Reliable as they seem to have the most competitive pricing locally (Read: Vancouver) and had to ask to see the Glock 17 and 22.

I've been drooling over picking one up since I moved down here. All my other weapons are safely stored back home, and I've been wanting something for home defense...quite possibly the weakest excuse to just go out and purchase a new firearm ;).

Anyways, I've been hearing from a couple shops prices are going up due to the dollar and border issues with the U.S. etc...

So I dropped the hammer and picked up a

I was a bit torn between the 17 and 22 but finally went with the .40 as this is my home defense with range trips second. I went with Ballistics over price, and if I get into IPSC, which I'm hoping to try and get to a couple this season, I wanted something that would grow with me in competition.

I may still grab a 17 for the range if I can get in before the price increases...

No real point to this but I figured it's one more little victory for the gun community.

You need a AA 22lr kit to save money :)
Also if this is your first Glock it may take time to master the trigger so dont worry if your groupings are loose at first.

Is that just getting used to the safety?

And the 22lr kit, how are they?

All you need to shoot 9mm in the Glock 22 is a .40-9mm conversion barrel. These are available from a number of vendors such as KKM, Jarvis, Lone Wolf, etc. They will work with the .40 mags, but will work best with Glock 9mm mags

I think the 22 accepts 9mm coversion kits, as well as .22, so your one pistol can handle it all without buying the 17

That's so awesome, I was wondering what it would take to convert the .40 to 9mm since the gun is identical...

The advantage arms kit for the 17 fits the 22 and 31 as well because they are the same frame. Also you can use a 357 sig barrel without changing mags.

So a .357 barrel would bea good investment ;)

I'm surprised this model is so flexible...what about sights?

Heinie sight for Glocks on back, Dawson fiber optic on front or Warren Sevigny competition front and back sights.

If you want the equivalent of a 357 mag in an auto, it's a good investment.I figured if it was good enough for the Texas Rangers it was good enough for me .

With a 124 gr. bullet, the 357 Sig is supposed to replicate as closely as possible a 125 gr.bullet in a 4" 357mag revolver.

MercuryO O,

How do you find the front sight on your G20C,how many rounds before it is to dirty? Who carries those sights here in Canada? I have a G20C with Tritium night sites, wish I had of bought the TruGlo fibre optic/tritium!

Thanks

I can shoot it all day at an IPSC match and there's hardly a difference in brightness from the first shot fired to the last. If it was starting to get dirty you could always run a wet cloth over it. I got mine from glockparts.com. No problems with shipping or anything.

G22

If the G22 fits you then you will likely be happy with it. Been shooting the same G22 .40 S&W since early 1995 without one fail to feed, fire, extract or eject in over 30,000 rounds. Butt ugly but Glocks work.
