Glock G44 - Anyone have a review?

Speaking of G44 mags, I bought a couple of Pearce G19 magazine grip extensions, hoping that they would fit the G44 mags. Good news: they fit perfectly

I put another 150 rounds through mine today.
The first 50 were federal classic 36gr cphp no malfunctions.
The next 100 were alternating magazines of Remington thunderbolt 40gr lead RN (flawless function) and Winchester 555 36gr cphp
I had a couple of malfunctions with the Winchester. One was a failure to feed. 3d round in magazine. It was a real soft ejection prior and actually ejected left instead of right. The trigger went dead. And when I cycled the slide it hadn’t picked up the next round. I think it was a weak charge.
The second was a failure to fire. It fired when reloaded and cycled again. Looked like a strong hit with the pin the first time. This is a pretty common issue with inconsistent priming compound around the rim.
I think both malfunctions were ammunition related.
I thought the malfunctions would be with the thunderbolts as it jams my revolver up with fouling and lead shavings very quickly. The Thunderbolts surprisingly worked fine in the Glock.
The Winchester bulk pack was more accurate but malfunctioned twice in only 50rds.
I’m quite happy with the Glocks reliability and attribute it’s malfunctions to this one brand (or lot) of ammunition the Winchester bulk pack 36gr cphp.
I managed to adjust the rear sight down to where it’s zeroed at 20yds with high velocity ammunition. It is bottomed out though.
I cleaned the gun after this 150rds and will clean it every 100rds from this point on as I think that is appropriate for how filthy a rimfire gets.

Good to know they work with the G44 mags, I've got a bunch of them for my G19 and they are excellent for that extra territory lol

Has anyone taken a Glock G44 out for some shooting?

How does it operate?

Would you recommend it?

I received mine during CVD19 lockdown so I haven't had a chance to go to the range, but will soon. As far as youtube reviews, yes I understand there are a lot of talking heads talking about other people having "catastrophic" slide failures but I'm not concerned about anecdotal stories by those pundits that have their own agendas. As far as ammunition experiences on youtube they do appear to be fussy eaters but so are my 22 Sig and 22 Ruger MarkIV, so that seems like part of the 22lr pistol legacy.

I will share my experiences once we get out on the range..

As a side note the purchase, transfer and registration certificate in hand went smooth as butter with normal wait times.

I finally got a failure with federal champion 36gr cphp bulk pack
Only about 50rds left in the box so that was about 475 rounds before a failure.
The round had a solid strike but must have missed the priming compound
It went off on the second try.
This one was a good lot of ammo. I’m glad I bought a case of it!

It is very common for a 22 pistol to be fussy about what ammo it likes.

The only 22 semi I have that is not fussy is my old Ruger Mk1.

So it is a good idea to take several different flavours of ammo to test your pistol.

The cheap bulk ammo comes from sweeping the factory floor (so to speak) so the fact that a bulk brand works does not mean much because the next time you buy it the ammo might be different.

The name brand stuff, like Mini Mag or Federal Champion is always the same, so you know you can buy it (or avoid it if it does not work).

Appreciate you chiming back in with the failures too. I've been on the fence about a semi .22, but the sales guy at Lanz finally got to me and I bought a G44 as my first Glock. Do you know if it will fit properly in G19 holsters?

Yes it fits the G19 holster properly

630 rounds and no failures using mini mags. Impressive results with good ammo. Will try different types after 1000.

800rnds and still going with no stoppages. Unreal. Anyone else having similar results? Surprised there isnt more chat about this pistol considering how much it was discussed before release

Mines fabulously reliable with ammunition it likes. Federal champion and Remington Golden bullet bulk packs have been great.

Put in poor ammunition and you can expect some issues.

The initial poor reliability reports on YouTube seem to have died out.
The Glock 44 is a definite win in my book

From some older holsters, I did have to file a tiny bit of Kydex (or is it really Boltaron?) to accomodate the (5th gen) right-side slide stop. That's it.

Most of my G19/G17 holsters didn't need any modification whatsoever.

Finally got to try one out yesterday at a Speed Steel match, very nice to shoot and I don't think my buddy had a single malfunction all day. I have been really interested in whether the Advantage Arms magazines will function in the G44 because I have a pile of them. We tried them before the match and they will fit and chamber the first round,,, but we totally screwed up and forgot to try them out during the match to see if they would function reliably during match use dammit. I guess I will have to try next time, because if they will function then it's a no brainer for me and I will grab a G44. It's a dilemma for me because my AA kit on my G19 has been so reliable that I don't really need a G44,,,,, but it does say Glock on it lol :)

As a heads up to anyone interested, the Advantage Arms .22 conversion magazines WILL function properly in the G44.
I had a chance to run them in a G44 and both the AA g19 and g17 conversion kit mags worked no problem. Good to know as I have 6 of them and I now know if I buy a G44 I don't need a schwack of new mags :)
