do you guys wonder why the frame at front doesn't match the curved slide at this pic ? Do they prepare other slides, or maybe the slides for gen 4 work on this one too ?

I'm curious too. Do you think it's possible a curved rail profile would effect durability or stability of a weapon mounted light?

slide never goes forward during operation, nothing really to support there at that small corner that sticks out, unless a full (non cut at front) slide is to be used on same frame ...

or they just did a fast sloppy design job :)

true, but used guns are not really an indication of sustainability of a firearms manufacturer.

it also shows that without the comfort of big govt and military contracts, Glock is not the most valued by average new gun buyers.

Their failing sales and income are also suggested by the rush to release Gen 5 of pretty much same thing.

I'm not a big Glock fanboy, I do have a single G22. But the Gen 4 was introduced 7 years ago. 7 years is hardly a "rush" to get the Gen 5 out.

Not that I doubt you, but as a privately-held company Glock doesn't have to report their sales or revenue. What's your source for your info?

i picked up a G19 and i really like it but i looooooooooooooooooooath the finger groves and the non ambi slide release.
ive been waiting money in hand for the Gen5 to come out.

ill be ordering one for sure, it has all the stuff i wanted changed..... changed!

my opinion is speculation pretty much :), but failing revenue I meant lost guaranteed yearly income they had from the US govt and army contracts they lost to SIG now.

and reminds me how Colt got bankrupt a few years after loosing the govt contracts, not that Glock is the same thing to compare.

Colt lost the M4 sole source contract. Completely different situation.

Glock had no prior contract with US Army to supply pistols (notwithstanding various SOF units); Beretta did. When Sig was awarded the MHS contract, Glock lost potential additional revenue. Different situation.

Glock recently won the FBI contract and a wave of LEO orgs followed suit. My hypothesis is that their revenue stream is just fine. Colt on the other hand, different situation. Beretta must be hurting too.

Beretta sat on the laurels of the m9 platform far too long. Now they have the APX out. I like the gun for the most part but they are too late to the game to capture any market share. And their mag retention design is not a great idea.

I'm debating on buying my first pistol, glock 17 gen 4 9mm grey frame. Rpal just came in

maybe wait till Gen 5 comes, pricing is announced and then decide ?

also prices on used Gen 4 will likely drop and you can get a nice deal at EE maybe...
