Glock Gen 5??

That's a bad idea....you can get an over pressure issue real quick. Lead bullets need rifling not polygonal rifling. I see your point but it's dangerous an extra cost to put a good rifles barrel on which makes to me a gen 5 more attractive then a gen 4.
I am not too sure on the accuracy of this information as when I was shooting IPSC in Ontario, my buddy was shooting a Glock 22 and he ONLY used Wolf hard cast lead bullets. He shoots about 10-12 thousand rounds a year and he has never had any issues.

That's funny, a shooting buddy of mine has well over 6 figures through two of his Glocks (a 19 and a 23) will plenty of lead bullets and not once has he had a problem. Kind of like what abb1 posted below.

Glock missed one important need for improvement-----SIGHTS!

Sights are the end users problem, change them as you see fit. The offering of night sights is great but it won't please a large portion as sight choice is wildly personal.

Re Glock and lead. The lead warning for glocks came out over 10 years after glocks were released.

The kB issues traced to lead were always rare, and from what I gather, are made more likely if you run soft cast and don't clean regularly.

It's a bore diameter reduction concern.

Traditional rifling is a better shoice in any gun using cast boolits.

Thanks Claven2....beat me too it. All depends on bullet cast and how hard and how many rounds between cleaning. Unfortunately when you come across a batch of soft lead bullets a over pressure scenario happens quickly generally before you notice. I shoot a lot of rounds so rifled barrels are more important to me. Rifled Barrels vs polygonal or what have you type are an issue if you shoot a lot of lead bullets with minimal cleaning. Good to see Glock change, I'm looking forward to another Glock 20 or 21. My main point was gen 5 is a big improvement in my opinion based on barrel....saves me $ 250ish.

I keep hearing varying reports on the Gen 5 rifling, including that is just another version of polygonal.

Been fondling them a bit at the local store. I really like the removal of the finger groves on the G19. It feels right in my hand now. Never did with the finger grooves. One shop now has them in the rental counter, so I may give them a test drive in the very near future.

I'm about to buy my first glock, where in the h#ll can I find a Gen 5 in Canada?

I am not aware of any in Canada just yet, some dealers are taking pre-orders. I have seen a number of them but all in the US. Very nice, high on my buy list. Best trigger out of the box of any Gen Glock, but Apex is already making parts for the new Gen 5 trigger design as will many others I am sure.

as with any new gun it will take 6-8 months before we see them in Canada through normal importers.
if your impatient then order one through irungunz or PR.

i had been talking to Rampart couple weeks back and they didnt even want to hazard a guess as to when they would see a Gen 5.
so when importers are not even willing to give a ruff time frame you know its gonna be a while!

I decided to go for it, baised soley that i didnt have one already. No need to argue with myself about selling my older Gen. Its also aplus that finger groves have gone, along with it its now dependable ability to shoot lead cast. I really enjoy casting my own

Basically a gen 2 from all the youtube reviews I watched. Nothing new.

Other than all the internals are different, including the barrel. The frame is completely different, stronger and less susceptible to flex. Metal has been added to the nose and the rear where cracks were occurring in the Gen 4. The slide releases are now ambi and larger. In short a new Glock pistol catching up to competition. It does however, look like a Glock and retains the worse grip angle of any modern design. Loved by some disliked by many. Nobody I have heard is raving about the trigger. That much has not changed. It will be however, a very good, inexpensive service pistol. In the form of the Glock 34 an excellent gun for IDPA SSP Division.

Take Care

Bob
