Anyone know anything about the new 4th gen Glock coming out next year at the SHOT show? I have been reading about it on GlockTalk for the past while. Apparently it has been confirmed due to some advertising, but the specifics are unclear.

Anyone know for sure if it is true?

Rumours floating around are that it will have a swappable backstrap, reversible magazine release, and most importantly for me, a shortened trigger reach. What would you guys like to see? I personally don't care for the idea of the swappable backstrap. To me it's just something else on the gun that can break/fail, or wear out/wear loose from use.

I wouldn't change all that much about the G17, as I have no issue with the grip angle of the Glocks, despite the fact that the 1911 is my favourite. I think a reversible (NOT ambi) mag release is a great idea, and shortening the trigger reach would be a huge plus for me, and the rest of the workd with average sized hands. Other than those 2 things I would beef up both the thin portion of the slide underneath the ejection port, and the breechface as those seem to be the most common places for failure. Maybe beef up the slide where the slide rail channels are cut.... it looks painfully thin, and you always hear people complaining about that portion of the slide bending or breaking when they accidenatlly dropped the slide, or when it flew off due to a broken slide lock spring. That's if it was up to me though :D

On second thought, maybe I'll just stick with my 1911 LOL

I've heard the same as everyone else - I think it would make sense for Glock to make the mods for the grip (you only really change them once, so nothing wears out or gets lost, assuming the attachment method is reasonable). The M&P is very succesful in the US pretty much entirely because of its ergonomics (the rest of the gun is largely Glock with some minor tweaks)

NAA.

rotflmao - I've owned Glocks in the past and really had issues with the ergonomics, if they do this right, I'll even sell my M&P to get one.

You are right and willing to tell the true, while I like my G17, I always said that the flame is very cheap and poorly made, it is reliable but far away from so call perfection. There are tons of area that can improve but years choose not to. Glock really don't know how many market share been took away by the other plastic guns.

My understanding was that the RTF was a gen 3 glock with the rough textured frame as an option (like the 's' in Beretta 92SF). Not a true 4th gen.
