Glock or Beretta

The Beretta seems to have fallen out of favor with competitors as far as I know, there must be a reason.

Maybe because you can't swap out the front sights (except for the recent 92A1...all others you're SOL). Just guessing.

I just competed a match with my Beretta and much enjoyed it. I usually shoot my Shadow for competitions, but the Beretta was just as good I found; better even in some stages.

I also have a Glock 20 with the .40 conversion, but I don't think it's a fair comparison to the G17 so I won't comment on it (love it, btw, but it's a BIG 2x4 to hold)

Any serious pistol collection will contain both. I own both and love both watch the EE for deals on either. When you hold the two of them together you will have a big smile

To the OP: it's really hard for anybody to tell you which one you should get (people tend to suggest what they currently own). Also, the two firearms are vastly different, so this really comes down to personal preferences.

Bets suggestion I can give is to try them before if you can; also, try to get a good deal for either on the EE, try it and if you don't like it sell it and get the other one, you are not stuck on the first you choose :) I'd avoid buying new as you'll take the $ hit if you decide to sell shortly after (insert EE pricing joke here).

All the best, you can't really go wrong.

Very hard to compare. Find what fits you best and what you shoot best. Another point to consider is ammo cost and availability. Other than that, it's totally up to you! Having said that, here is my shameless Glock fanboy plug:

Get a glock!

I own a 92FS in stainless , and have used the Glock.....Both pistols work nice , but I prefer the 92 because of its appearance and feel ; I guess I prefer the feel of steel......

Both are fine pistols, but there must be a reason the US Military chose the Beretta over the Glock to replace the 1911.

A few of the reasons for Glock not being considered by the US Army as I understand it......

1. Glock didn't qualify as the requirements for the 1911 replacement included "pull the trigger again" second strike capability in the case of a mis-fire.
2. It's widely believed that Glock was reluctant to set up production outside of Austria
3. Beretta received the contract the same week Italy approved the renewal of the leases for several US air bases.;)

Solution, find friends who own a GLOCK and a Beretta, and then you can try running rounds through both to see what works better for you.

Other than that, if you're not GLOCKin', you're not rockin' !

Beretta, the oldest gun manufacturer in the world. They know what they're doing.

This boils down to personal preference. If you can't shoot the glock well the beretta will be more fun because is highly forgiving in a sa mode. Over time it will make you a better shooter if you practice the double action.

Other than that, I don't see any benefit.
I find the grip to thick in the beretta and It it just uncomfortable.

Choose the one you have fun shooting with. They are both rrally good.

Cheers

for collection, both eventually. for hobby shooting and emphasize on "shooting", go with glock for it's simple, yet very reliable design and way more after market parts.

Anyone have any experience with both. Love the feel of the glock17 gen4 and the 92fs. Help me chooooose. Will just be for hobby shooting. Nothing competitive. Tried the CZ. Didn't like it much

Never liked Berettas, not one thing about them, but especially not the current ambidextrous safety system, and then I saw a guy at the club buy one that could not by any local means be made to fire. Of course in Canada you're stuck with what you got at time of purchase, and last I heard the poor guy was waiting for a complete rebuild to come back from the factory... but I'll take a Glock please. Never heard of a problem with a Glock.

Have a Beretta 92g, decocker only. Reliable as the sun rising in the east and setting in west. Didn't much like the grip until I put Hogues on it. Tried a Glock 17 but didn't fit my hand. Bought a Glock 19 because it fit my hand so well. Lighter gun and shorter barrel than the 92 and is somewhat snappier, still like it though. Then bought a Shadow because I wanted to try a steel gun and the 92 is aluminum. Like it too! Like 'em all. There, I hope I helped! :)

Had both. The Beretta is fat with too short a reach to the trigger. I find the 9mm Glock with the medium blackstrap suits me better. Better trigger too.

Looks like beretta for the win
But just because more Beretta fans posted first doesn't mean it'd be best for you..these types of threads usually end up with members posting that what they own is best. They're very different pistols...just about as different as two full-size 9mm pistols can be. They're also both very good pistols and it's unlikely that you'll be disappointed with either. Think of what you're looking for in a pistol. Do you want a consistent trigger pull for every shot or a DA/SA trigger pull? Do you want a pistol with fewer controls or are you ok with more? Are you looking for lght weight or is a heavier pistol ok?

Worst case you buy one and don't like it--you can sell it on the EE and buy the other.
