Flog that 40 caliber dead horse all day long, we're talking 45's here ;) 45 is a low pressure round, I've got 5 time fired brass from my G21, and never have I seen any hint of the dreaded glock bulge. That's a 40 s&w and 10mm problem, but has nothing to do with the 45 acp.

It should be noted that my weapon was cleaned with authorized materials the night before going to the range. I was shooting factory practice ammo. Officers in my agency no longer carry the .45 Glocks, sadly we are forced to carry the 9mm. I shudder to think what would have happened if I was on the street and my weapon exploded in my face.

Ah, we are a biased bunch here, I'm afraid! It is tough for a relative newcomer to ask "which is better" questions, becuase we ALL have opinions, and some of them are really strong.

The glock is (reportedly) a fine firearm. Just watch out for the plastic sights, which will probably need to be replaced if you are holstering your pistol. Also, some find the grip angle really frickin' weird. The trigger is also a bit on the... plasticky side. But, they are really popular, inexpensive, and easy to find parts for. That said, the only firearm I have ever personally witnessed fall apart was a brand new Glock 17, with factory 9mm ammo. (In about 21 years of shooting).

So, yeah, the Glocks are great! (Supposedly). But, I don't like 'em!

My wife bought an XD9, and it is great, except for trying to find a level 2 holster for it!

I believe Slavex here on the board REALLY does not like the XD, from his personal experiences.

Buy what fits you best, and IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, test fire both before you buy.

Millions upon millions of Glocks in the world and how many have KB'D? 50? 100? See the above photos for what I think of that.
 
I like my glock 22c so much Iam gonna try it out at the next IPSC match I go to instead of my Tanfoglio Limited Custom.

No one knows how many Glocks have kaboomed. The vast majority of kabooms have likely never been reported and to the best of my knowledge, no one is keeping a tally of the ones that have been.

The issue is not as black and white as you try to present it. Saying that plenty of guns other than Glock have kaboomed over the years and that Glock is therefore as safe or as dangerous as any other pistol is not a logical proposition. What you need to look at is whether Glock is statistically more likely to blow up than "Brand X". Granted, most evidence of Glock kabooms is anecdotal, as no one has ever conducted a scientific study on this matter to the best of my knowledge. However, certain aspects of Glock's design, such as loose chamber and poor support at the six o'clock position, do lead themselves to greater propensity for catastrophic failure. You don't need to conduct any tests to conclude that more chamber support is better than less chamber support - it's common sense.

If you are comfortable buying a Glock despite its design shortcomings, more power to you. But let's not try to pretend that Glock kabooms are an urban legend. There seems to be enough evidence to suggest otherwise.
