in 9mm which would be better? not in comp shooting, just at the range and the back forty. shot the xd,but only shot the rcmp's glock. didn't like the trigger pull on those glocks, are they the same on others,or adjustable? i don't have a plastic gun, yet. i was told that the xd were made by finding out the problem areas in the glock and improving them. i'm not bashing the glock, this is what a dealer told me,yes he sold both. for useability and some abuse, and its going to get scratched.not a big deal to me,but for function.i'll shoot 1000/2000 rounds a year. i'll keep it for a long time but dont want to have to replace the slide, frame or barrel in 10 years. both feel nice in my hands. anyone have problems with their glocks or xd's that i should know about? thanx dwayne

The XD is excellent value for the money, and less expensive than a glock.
There is a lot you can do to both pistols if you want to tweek them, not sure about the RC's but I have fired two Glocks that were night and day apart for trigger pull. One was stock and the other had work in it.
My XD only has a few thousand rounds through it, but so far I am very impressed.
I doubt you would go wrong with either pistol.
I would recommend going over to glock talk, pistol gear and the HS2000 board for more info on both

I had a XD-9 and A XD-40 sold them both and just recently bought another XD-40.
The XD-9 in particular was extremely accurate with lead reloads wich is more than I can say about my Beretta 92 and Sig226 when it came to shooting lead.
In any case I have been very happy with the XD pistols.Very dependable, easy to feild strip and just plain fun to shoot.
In my opinion when it comes to the XD series of pistols it is the rare case of you get more than what you paid for.You can't go wrong for the price.
I recently spoke to Ryan at Wolverine and was told the Xd's are now coming as the XD gear kit.(45 ACP version just weeks away)You get the gun,2-10rnd mags,a holster and a double mag pouch at a great price. You should give them a call.
Thats my two cents worth.

ya the XD's are a great gun...I remember when i bought my XD40. I will never sell it. It is very similar to a glock in many ways. I personally found the slide release and mag release "better" on the XD. The trigger got better with age as well. My only complaints with the XD are the grips aren't great, when doing alot of shooting my hands get sweaty and lose grip. I put a hogue slip on rubber grip to help with that. The balance on the XD is a little off as well. But overall for $700 bucks its a great deal. Another plus for the XD is the mags kick ass over glock plastic mags.

Ummm.. If you look at just at XD it is a Glock rip off with just enough changes to negate a patent infringement lawsuit. When is a copy ever better than the original? Also the price difference is $100. Glock 22 @ Questar $850, Springfield XD @ P&D enterprises $950. Glock 17 for $800 @ Questar. Get the original!!

Both are good guns. I vote for the Glock, seeing as how I am an official Kool-aid drinker. Don't be too quick to judge a pistol by its trigger. The Glock trigger is quite different from others and takes some time and proper practice to master. The RC Glock (I didn't know they used Glocks??) could have had a NY trigger with a much heavier pull, like 8-12 lbs. Pick what you like, and what works for you. Seeing as how you'll be practically starving your gun with only 2000 rounds a year( feed your gun!!!) you won't have any problems with durability. I tend to agree with TW25B, the XD is the closest copy of a Glock I have ever seen, why not get the original??

I have a XD40 with over 25000 rounds through it and all the original parts...I also have two Glocks with a combined 25000 rounds through them with only 1 broken recoil spring guide rod.

I find the XD has better ergonomics, handling and accuracy. The Glock has a better (shorter) trigger reset. The XD is built tougher, larger beefier main rail pack which is easily changed with only a pin punch. The Glock has a better finish and seems a little lighter.

As much as these two pistol look to have a lot in common, they are different pistols by far... both excellent handguns and will last a very long time... the difference maybe only how they feel in your hands... if you have the chance to try them both then do so, you will not regret your decision either way.

I use my XD and Glocks for plinking and IPSC competiton.

Cheers

I love my XD40, the ergononmics are way better than a Glock for me. I can't stand the way a glock points. I only thing about my XD40 I don't like is the cost of the ammo, I should have gotten an XD9 for that reason. You need to try some guns to see what fits your hand well and points good for you.

If you start handloading for it, the price between 9mm & .40S&W gets very slim. Or try ordering your ammo through Combat Masters (btw, a downloaded 180gr. bullet will feel way less snappy than a full power 9mm;) )

I vote for XD-40 or 45ACP. Although i'm a milsurp freak, and secretly
dream of long nights on the riviera with a WWI 1911. I handled a Glock
at the last gunshow here, didn't like the overstated grip angle, or overall
look. It's all about taste. What you like, may not what be what I like,
which is why they make different jellybeans. And underwear.

When I bought my pistol, I tested just about every new gen battle pistol. I was really surprised at how different they all handled, recoiled and felt. Tried them side by side with the same ammo.

Between the glock and XD, you are talking two very good pistols with lots of extras. Both can be made to be absolutely superb.

I own an XD simply because it fit me better. Try them side by side and the differences will be very clear.

I too found the grips on the XD and glock slippery. I have 'grip tape' on the XD now and it is perfect.

If trigger feel is really a concern to you, try the 1911. Doesn't get better then a well tuned single stage pull. Fits most people really well too.
