I will admit I am not a fan of the Barnes tsx or ttsx for small calibers. This is from my personal experience. However I haven't played with the gmx. I was planning on trying them in my 25/06 but it's barrel is just about done. It still shoots decent with the 75 g vmax for some reason so it has become a dedicated coyote rifle for the rest of its barrel life.
So that leaves my 300 wm. I need a load for hunting. I hunt mainly black bear with 250 yards being a far shot. Realistically 50-75 yards so I thought about trying the gmx. Not sure whether I should go 150 gr or 165 gr.
The problem I face is I may start moose hunting in a different area and I'm told there are a lot of marshes and open cuts where longer shots are common
Does anyone have any real experience using these gmx bullets on game from a magnum 30 cal?
Or should I just go with 200 gr woodlieghs and be done?

I load 165gr. GMX for 300 wm and I really like them ... Excellent weight retention and nice wound channel.
They shoot very well from my older Remington 700 and my father's savage 111 .
Bullet performance has been great on everything from whitetail, moose, black bear. I'm no super long range shooter but they have worked well for us well in excess of 400 m.

I am curious on what you use for powder?

I too am interested in using the 165 GMX in my 300WM. How did you find them as to fouling and how far did you seat them off the lands?

Thanks

I use H4350 with a large rifle primer... some say I should use magnum primers but they shoot well now
..maybe I'll try some time. AS far as seating depth I can't tell you now I'm in my deer blind and can't recall exactly.Might sound silly to some but I just put a few together a couple years ago to try them and they shot well so I haven't experimented much more except with powder charges.

I am shooting the 165 GMX out of my 300WSM. They really shoot well, accuracy-wise.

On game, I cannot say, since I have not shot anything with them. They expand well in
water filled 4L milk jugs, though, even at 200 meters. Dave.
