I shot a lot of .22 this summer as the fire hazard had us restricted to 100 yards and in. The tightest I could get mine (Savage MkII TR) to shoot with cheap ammo (CCI minimags) is about 1.25" @ 100 yards so I grabbed a 3"x4" diamond gong I pulled off a prize table and hung it at 100. It's the perfect size for PRS barricade and positional practice. I would shoot my match rifle at 2" squares at the same difference and alternate 4 rounds of centrefire, 15 or so of rimfire. Hell, I kept the .22 in the back of my truck so I could stop at the range on the way home form work most days. Great, cheap practice. Now that it's soggy again, I'm going to push it out to 200-300 yards. It's got am Athlon Talus BTR on it with an Xmas tree reticle so I want to practice holding over. Damn thing needs to be cleaned every few hundred rounds though or it FTEs all the time, haha.
