Gold Bayonets for SKS

Woodbeef

If all #'s are matching, why do you figure the bolt was painted black? Most of the painted black bolts are EP'ed.

Not really sure. Epps only received about 10 of the black bolt IZH ones. Most were EP'd. This one was'nt. So not enough to draw any conclusions from. None others were reported. Iit is refurb marked, and has a restock. Funny thing is,the stock still has all it's acceptance stamps from Tula in 1954,with only the original serial number Xd out. Cross bolt stamps and final inspection stamp are still there.

Hey woodbeef, I also have an SKS of 1952 vintage that doesn't have a chrome plated bore and has all matching numbers. None of the numbers are electropenciled or ###xx over and re stamped, including the stock. The bolt is painted black as well. It does have the refurb stamp on the bolt cover but for the life of me, I can't find a replacement part on the rifle. It did have a problem though, the sear wouldn't release when the trigger was pulled. It needed a little judicious stoning and all was OK. I did do a spring replacement to keep things working smoother though as an after thought. SKS rifles as issued have the worste trigger pull of any milsurp on the market.

I have a gold bayonet on a force match 1950. But I took the gold off with paint thinner and guess what its silver "go figure lol" I have a gold spike bayo on a chinese too IT IS JUST OLD PACKING GREASE PEOPLE LMAO!

Hahaha, I was waiting for someone to figure it out. :D

Hey Woodbeef,

I have seen that floor somewhere before....

Does it still have the original bolt?
Where are the refurb marks from?

Yup,bolt is matching. This has a really slick paint job,not like the dipped in a barrel of bbq paint like some of the Bell black bolts are. Just another Russian SKS45 mystery.

It is proabably one of those that was caught up in a refurb program, but did not need anything done to it. They were marked just to show they were checked over. Val's Son has one like your's but a bright bolt.

I just received a refurb 1950 SKS from Jacques with gold bayonet. My first rifle. Looks beautiful to me. I feel like buying an unissued one from him but he doesn't have many left and my funds are low and I want other goodies. LOL!

I am tempted to buy an unissued and never fire it. I wonder if it would end up as an investment, like the Garand!?
