Good .22lr for a nubie?

Great thread! Lots of info here.

I'm also looking for something to plink away with, and -stupid as it may sound- I don't like the look of the Rugers etc, not sure I'd want to buy one.
Has anyone used both the PPQ M2 22lr and the P22Q?

Just like the looks of those, and the GSG Firefly and/or 1911's don't look too bad either.

The PPQ M2 22lr is a wonderful gun in my opinion. I prefer it over the P22Q just due to the size. The P22's grip is about an inch shorter than the PPQ M2 22.

In regards to warranties, here in Canada we are pretty much on our our with whatever firearm we purchase. I am pretty sure that there is a horror story attached to any major firearm manufacturer.

Several S&W model 41’s have come and gone but always hung onto the Ruger Mk 11’s.

Bit of a pain to take apart but otherwise great guns.

The MK2 might feel kind of odd initially, but easy enough to get used to it.
If the High Standard on the EE disappear, Tradeex has a few of them. I'm sure tempted by one of the Miltary Citation.

Personally, I'm in the buy once/cry once category.
- One of my first pistol was a Walther GPS. Still the one that gets the most range time.

Close 2nd would for range time, is a wheel in 22lr. To me, there is something borderline therapeutic about plinking at cans with a 22lr revolver.
