Good 9mm

The M&P trigger may feel different, but the striker is still partially cocked like a Glock.

The only two DAO pistols within a reasonable price that I remember seeing is the SIG2340($350 IIRC) from blue line (cgn sponser) and the beretta 96D($450 IIRC) from the used section over @ wolverinesupplies. Both are .40S&W though. When my paper work finally comes through for my RPAL, I was looking at one of these, but the DAO and .40 have kind of voted against that decision @.@... Just thought I'd try to contribute ^.^b

CZ85 Combat would be my choice. Extremely accurate, reliable and a proven design. If you prefer striker fired polymer guns then the Glock 17 or M&P are both popular with the same attributes as the CZ85 Combat.

Wait until your employer decides on a model then buy the same. If increased proficiency for work is a serious concern, avoid other models. Seeing how you carry for a living I would put the vast majority of my efforts in mastering the tool that could very well save your life.

are Deagle any better than the cz85? they use same mechanism dont they?

Yes, they're in a class of their own. With high-cap clips you can almost equal the accuracy of a rifle. It's crazy ill.

The method of operation is the same too, both are blowback with a rotating chamber.

the CZ shadow ( with ambi-safety ) will work wonders. too bad it's DA/SA
Also M&P is also great.

GLOCK is not a LEFT hand ready gun. only some(rare still) newer ones are.

STI GP6 is nice.

If you can convert a CZ Shadow into a DA than it's awesome.

Its called skill and training. A shooting partner of mine can run circles around most right handed shooters with his Glocks. The controls do not need to be on the right side of the firearm for a lefty to run it efficiently. This goes for nearly all pistols.

coffee must be weak

I find myself in agreement with TDC.:p While ambi pistols are easier off the hop for a left handed shooter (speaking for myself), realizing the world won't change for south paws is the best thing you can do.

I'm a leftie. Been shooting a Glock 22 .40 cal since 1995. And other semi's a lot longer than that.

NAA.

One advantage the lefties have with a "righty" gun is that they use their trigger finger to depress the magazine. This eliminating the potential for an ND.

If you are going to carry a particular firearm, it would seem best to master it's
particular manual of arms.
It's all well and fine to be 'proficient' with all types, but when you may have to actually use a firearm, in protecting life and property, you will want to use whatever conscious thought remains at the time on sight picture and whether, or not, to press the trigger....not on fumbling the controls!

Hence my belief behind DA/SA or DAO guns like Glocks. Point, pull, repeat as necessary. No extra crap to play with(aside from decockers on the DA/SA but there's no rush to decock after the fight). The pistol is dumbed down so one can focus on the fundamentals.
