If you don't already have a .22lr in your collection and looking for a revolver (too) you should consider a S&W 617.....
S&W Model 14 Target Masterpiece aprox $600-700 used in vg condition

Please PM me who sells these at 750. I need one right now.
Well, I’ve decided on a GP 100 4.2” bbl in .357 magnum.
I handled quite a few options and got to fire a couple others. The size, feel and weight (heft) of the GP appeals to me. I also like the ruggedness of that gun. With a little trigger work it can be perfect. I prefer the 4.2” bbl for its balance and general appearance over the 6” which to me feels muzzle heavy. This was the same for Ruger and S&W pistols. The S&Ws are obviously very nice as well. Ultimately the decision was made when a fellow CGN’r made me an offer that was impossible to pass up. Even if it was a bit sooner than I’d wanted to actually buy. Can’t let this one go. There is some really good people on here.
I’m going to hold back on any further details until it’s completely finalized with EMTs and transfers etc. The “ill take it” only took place a little while ago so......
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and advice on my first revolver purchase. I can’t wait to post my first range report.
Standby for further.
No, the aforementioned K-38 Masterpiece (model 14 after 1957) is THE classic revolver. 686 is kind of a Johnny come lately.![]()
