Good IPSC starter that is affordable..

Here's a couple other options:

Tanfoglio has recently added a "tactical rail" to the Combat and Combat Sport.
This makes the gun even more front heavy that the CZ-SP-01, and therefore 9mm is a joke to shoot out of them.

The Combat with fixed sights currently retails for $812. The Combat Sport with adjustable sights is $900. Dealers may sell for less.

Some old CZs had similar triggers and they are pinching the tip of my trigger finger. I like thicker CZs trigger much more, but maybe that's just me.

The longer barrels on those guns will be really handy for those stages with targets at 50m. :D

hmmmmmm

what do you guys think about an sti spartan or a ruger p345?

1911 type grips seem to be the best fit for how i have been taught to shoot..

The Ruger KP345 (and KP345PR) are both approved for the Prod Division ...but if it's like every other Rugar I've tried..you couldn't pay me to use it (clunky)

The spartan would be fine for Standard Division

Shooting a 1911 means you're going to be shooting in Standard division, where a 45 ACP single stack is at a round count disadvantage (8+1) as opposed to what everyone else with double stacks have (10+1)

So long as you accept that this will be a starter gun & your goal is to have fun, and that if you want to win - you'll have to get a double stack when your skills catch up - there's nothing wrong with them.

Oh, and 45 ACP is a little more expensive to shoot than 9 and 40...
