Good IPSC starter that is affordable..

Seems like the cheapest but still decent 9mm's are the M&P and the Ruger SR-9. The Ruger's trigger feels terrible in stock form but there's lots of info out there on how to doctor it up to make it supposedly quite nice.

A straight and basic CZ75 wouldn't be a bad option for an all steel gun but it's a hun' or two more than these other two. And the SR9 and M&P show up pretty regularly on the EE so you can save even more if you catch the right deal.

BTW, other than adjustable sights and $185 extra for GP6C, what the difference between GP6 and GP6C?
Fiber Optic Front Sights and an Extended Magazine Release, the most popular add ons for the GP6.

Oh, and I forgot to add in my first post;

Welcome driller212 to the he-man Glock Haters club!

Here's a couple other options:

Tanfoglio has recently added a "tactical rail" to the Combat and Combat Sport.
This makes the gun even more front heavy that the CZ-SP-01, and therefore 9mm is a joke to shoot out of them.
combat.jpg

The Combat with fixed sights currently retails for $812. The Combat Sport with adjustable sights is $900. Dealers may sell for less.

They've also done the same treatment to the "L".
So add weight to a longer barrel, (requiring less powder for PF) Bomar - Style target sights and a
longer sight radius for more accurate shooting plus you can get a F/O sight for the front and you get this...

Currently selling for $980 and dealers may also sell these for less.

Please excuse the picture qualities; it's early and the Iphone was the only camera nearby.

awesome,..me like it! The L model with the front cocking serrations looks like a stock2 top end! That is the one I would get.

Lol...I think IPSC should have put a weight limit on Production division, I'm gonna wait 'til they hit 4+lbs before I buy one...that should be by next year?

the bottom one reminds me of an sti with a short rail dustcover. Unique looking for sure,...I would say on my list of potential purchases.

As yes...Production Division...from Grass roots to the biggest equipment race in IPSC...in less than 5 years.

I love how everyones thinks it's "cheap"

well,..$950- $1800 for a production gun,...compared to an STI or SVI standard or Open gun at around $2400-$7000!;), I still think production is the cheapest division. (Unless you shoot revolver with a model 10.)

i like to shoot revolver with S&W 686 :D

Well...I only bought one Open gun ;)

LOL,..don't hate the player, hate the game...:p
I actually used my secondary stock 2 this weekend,..worked great. Henning grips are slighter wider than OEM aluminum,..so I got some weird 10 and 1 o'clock hits...but it worked well. The Henning grips look cool,..and of course that is more important than shooting well...:D

Lol..so the difference between hi end Production and low end open is $600...I think I'll shoot Open :D
Also buying one Open gun and having it good for at least 3-5 years vs. a new Production gun every year to keep pace...I think I'll shoot Open.
Of course in the end if competitors spent as much money training as the did buying new gear, we'd have a whole bunch of M's in this country...

Nah,..I have had my stock2 since mid 2007, it still has lots of life left in it. I just wanted another hence the recent purchase. If i buy another one it will be because I did not spend the money on ammo:redface:
The CZ shadow has only had minor changes since it started getting popular.

Looks like a winner. My Model "L" runs like a clock. Sean does the new version come in under 43 oz? Gun runs in IDPA ESP Division for me. I have well over 5K on the frame using 9MM and .40Cal top ends with nary a FTF of any kind.

Take Care

Bob

Hey, the more rounds you put trough a Production gun the more smooth it gets. You may want to look at CZ that MrClean has, I think he already lost count of how many rounds he put trough it.
