Good powder for 458 win mag.

Any suggestions for good powders for the 458 win mag?

I prefer Reloder15 for 500gr bullets, and IMR4895 for lighter bullets.

Some reloading manuals list fast burn rate powers like Reloder7 and IMR4198 for lighter and heavy bullets. Depends on what bullet and powder combinations your rifle shoots well.

I use H4895 for 400 gr and 500 gr bullets. Shoots so well I've never tried anything else

A2230 for 450 and 500s. H4895 for 450s. H4198 for a screaming load with 350 TSXs, or a comparatively cheap load with 350 Hornadys. SR4759 for cast.

I've used a variety of powders in some of the jacketed and cast loads I've fed my 458WM. Especially with the likes of the 500gr Hornady RN, IMR 4320 has worked the best for me. This is my load but adhere to the usual safety cautions when you work up to this load.

Either 4198 for any bullet weight from "powder puff" to "ouch"!

Not always the optimum, but very versatile. I use it in 45-70 and 45-90 too.
