Looking forward to this year. I just found about 10lbs of breast meat from last year. I didn't think I had any left. I just cut it up and it is in the marinade. Going to make up a batch of mesquite flavoured jerky. Yummm! Won't be long now when I can get some more in the freezer. Just bought a 12 ft aluminum. The paint is going on on sunday. It will be camoed up. A few blind modifications and it will be ready to go. Heading out on the 8th to barrie and with any luck will be in North bay on sat eve for a hunt. Do you guys have any plans to get out?

Dave.

Season starts on Fri. here in Sask. and have a great field to hunt that has grain and sloughs....weather has been too warm for the Snow Geese to start moving down...thats when the fun starts....bag limit on Snows here is 20 per day!!

I have a bag of legs and thighs that was going to get made into sausage but it didn't happen yet, left from last season. It was looking like next Saturday was going to be my first chance to get out, but plans have changed and I will be in the fields the morning of the 5th! Can't wait!

bought my bird stamp today :beerchug:

should get out a bit this fall, usually shooting over dekes on dry ground :D

a few pics from the last couple seasons

ah, fond memories. that stupid 870 beat the piss out of my cheek. lets remember to kill ALL the ducks first before they go in my truck this year please? I would prefer not to have any accidents (again).

Great pic's!
For the geese, do you hang them and gut them then , do the hot water dip then pluck? ( that was my first experience with them )

I am ready for WW3 tomorrow. I use the 3.5 inch medicine for those "zombie" ducks and it seems to work quite well at less then 40 yds, but I still go for the head because I wouldn't want to load "live" or "living dead" birds into my truck.lol

The easiest in my opinion is to just skin them. We take only the breast meat, legs and thighs. Lots of people take only the breasts. If your looking to have the whole bird to roast, sorry can't help you there.

Just got back from a.m. hunt near Duck Lake, Sask......lots of birds in the air, some snows, sometimes I just sit and watch the show at dawn.

Went out this am and did some pass shooting between two lakes.
Got a couple of ducks but not many gees out took a shot at a flock but missed. Well see in a week or two.

GREAT PICS guys and the loosey goosey's are flying back south from here ... I can't wait to bang up some more of these big fuggers again.(pictured) ... long weekend ... gonna do some fishing and goose hunting ... yahooo!

was a decent morning. a bit of mallard action and two chances at smaller flocks of geese. if we could shoot worth a ####, we'd have a few more to show ya :D ended up with 4 geese and 7 ducks between the two of us

Tod, how do you eat these birds? I only started shooting them last year and decided to not do it any more. Don't like the meat, and it's quite a pain to get the feather off. I'd rather shoot grouses, easier job and better eating.

We are grinding em here for the early goose season.

Tuesday, 15, Thursday 23, Friday 16.

Running of fields on the X though.
