Gophers!!

and my first badger.

:( At the risk of soundling like a tie die wearing 60 year old grandmother, I hate seeing a badger get it... I like the vicious little buggers, and don't consider them varmints (I hunt gophers, yotes, crows, muskrats on the farm).

I know, I know, they can cause problems, but the little badger colony is the only thing that is off limits for shooting varmint wise at my family's farm and they haven't bugged us... Many farmers like them because they do a wicked job of controlling the gophers. :(

There, I'm done sobbing! :p

I don't think Gopher shooting is my thing after seeing how the Explode like that. I'm a big suck i guess,

Just don't make em all extinct, and if you wanna shoot em go ahead, just not my thing.

He He he We ripped on the gophers...Wow. that .204 ruger with 39gr bk rips them apart.

My .22-250 rips hard too.....

Found 3 gopher patches with in 1.5 hrs of edmonton.....Shot over 300 .204 shells and 200 .22-250 shells

I'm going to be in the Red Deer, Alberta area for a week or so for a wedding on July 23rd and would love to go gopher shooting while I'm out there.

I bought a new Rem 700P S/A 223 and mounted a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x scope onto it. I have been shooting at 300 yards and getting minute of gopher every shot. I'll also have my Browning BL22 22lr with me for the close in shots.

So if anyone knows of a place and wouldn't mind pointing the way or going with me it would be great.

I went out and got between 300 and 400 of the little pests on Saturday. Just used my little Savage17HMR. There is actually landowners near here offering ammo, steak dinners, fuel and even one offered $8 an hour on top of this to get shooters on their land. These dudes live a bit in the boonies though. There is some real serious gopher problems around here and the badgers are moving in. Everybody knows how a dumb old cows ankle and a badger hole gets along.
