Gorgeous Mauser

On that note, It's nice to look at, but i wouldn't want to scratch/dent/bugger it up and devalue it, and I would because I don't own any safe queens.

There's no need for this, or any rifle to be a safe queen... guns were built to be used and should be used, with care and respect. The only circumstances where I would not put a gun to work is if it's so old or in poor condition that safety is suspect, or if it's so rare and unique as to be irreplaceable. This Mauser is neither.

I have a suspicion that's it's been refinished at some point in it's life. The Germans were not in the habit of colour hardening everything. They would have surfaced hardened it, then blacked it. Re-hardening these old mausers is usually unecessary, especially given the chambering of this one.

Rather odd choice of calibre for a Mauser as well; sort of like taking a Mercedes SL and putting a 4-banger in it.

Oh wow!

I also love the ammo storage in the buttstock, methinks that's pretty cool. :)

Being a European gun Im wondering why they stamped it as 25/35 and not 6.5x52R?

Because it was bein sold in the Americas?

That is a stunning rifle made only more desirable by the chambering. Mausers that have been properly refined to run rimmed cartridges make an interesting example of craftsmanship.

I believe the idea is to post your thoughts on the rifle. It says nowhere that you are only allowed to post if you think it's the greatest piece of artwork/machinery ever made.

How does it shoot i wonder? Form follows function in my books.

I'd only buy a rifle like that if I could get it for a song and sell at a profit. There seems to be no shortage of interested buyers :)
Beg pardon, perhaps I was the one in the poor mood. I was raised with the `If you can`t say something nice...` way of thinking

For those interested in purchasing a rifle a lot like the rifle above, may I present you...

Be still my beating heart........., damn that's nice! I'd venture to say even nicer that the original posted. Something about the functional simplicity of it that appeals to me.
