I have A Safari Deluxe Parker Hale (Floorplate model) chambered in 308 Norma Magnum. I bought it from a fellow gunnut here on the EE forums. With the 200 Accubond and a healthy dose of Norma MRP, it will shoot them into right around ¾" at 100 meters when I do my part. Velocity is 2925. Having owned several PH rifles over the years, I have yet to own one that was not accurate. The barrels seem to be quite good, and that Santa Barbara action, while not the most refined Mauser, is a solid, trouble free unit. Enjoy your PH, it's a keeper!! Regards, Eagleye.
.308, the little cartridge that could.
Wait til you shoot a deer with it. For a smallish case, it packs big punch. I've shot 95% of my deer with it and I've seen deer do back flips, forward flips, and just plain old flops. Its never failed to do the job.
I sold a 1200c in .30-06 i never should have. It shot an honest 1" group with anything i fed it.![]()
I havent even begun to think of adjusting the trigger on this nice piece of work. I am still trying to figure out how to "skim some money off the top" so to speak, to get more ammo without the wife knowing I am doing it. I guess the truck's gonna need its second oil change this month..........(with synthetic and one of those $12 oil filters. )![]()
I've had 9 of these wonderfull guns over the years, no sooner do I get one set up "just the way I like it (this month!)" than one of my bud's talks me out of it. My all time favorite was an early Safari in 308, had the adjustable trigger, but a bolt safety, rather rare, and the densest piece of walnut I have ever seen on a rifle. OK that does it, time to sell something and go get one.....
If any of you ever come across one of these, you should do yourself a favor and at least check it out.
