Very nice gun - thanks for the interesting info on that unusual rifle. If they hadn't messed with the belt dimensions a lot more of us would be warmed up to the 450 Marlin I think - those of us that revere the 2" 458 American.

The reason the belt width was changed was to prevent chambering the 450 in 7mm, 300, and 338 mag rifles. You can imagine the fuss if you chambered and touched one off!

Good on you for keepiung that rifle, JP.
Ted

I agree the value is within me, the fact that i had a talk with that guy made me realize this was a Steyr Mannlicher rifle and it was BNIB and i could just get rid of it for half the price... It will have a second life, i am thinking of ordering a S&B 1.5X6X42 with an A9 reticle to really make the most out of it, i am surfing Wolverine site to see my options... JP.

I am sure, i am right when i say that a Steyr Mannlicher rifle is never a mistake... JP.
that seems to be the case...they appear to try hard to build accurate - and practical rifles. Although not inexpensive! Anyway .. now that your 450 has appreciated so much JP -- I think you should go out and treat yourself to another rifle and post some pictures and thoughts here. It may be the closest I will get to some of the pricier pieces you pick up and I prefer reading and hearing about some of this stuff here from a fellow "gunnutz" than some magazine! Thanks!!

I have to concentrate on my restricteds to come, the way i see it, i will only shoot NR when i am up my place un upper Gatineau so buying NR will be put on the back burner... I hope... 2014 will be the years of the restricteds at the range... Now... Now, i have to focus on learning to shoot a handgun... AR's dont worry me at all... JP.

JP; Enjoy your acquisitions...tell us about them all you like.

Ignorer les causeurs negative. Ils sont probablement peu jaloux..

Regards, Dave.

Votre français est tres bon Dave... Merci... JP.

Effectivement, Dave a tres bien raison! Ne t'en fait pas des jaloux...il y a plus de membres sur ce site qui aiment lire et visioner tes commentaires et photos! Merci pour l'information que tu partage avec nous, JP...c'est fortement apprecier dans la plupart des cas!

Nobody has to agree with any thread or comment posted on this forum but as a community of gun nuts it's only fair that we respect one another as we are all on the same team! Giving a guy a hard time because of language, ethnicity, grammar or whatever you aren't comfortable with, is purely being ignorant and arrogant! When I was growning up (in a small English speaking community on the Gaspe #####ula of Quebec) I had an old timer tell me this one time (and it stuck with me forever): "If you have nothing valuable to add to the conversation, you sit back and keep your phuking mouth shut as you have less of a chance of making an ass of yourself and loosing your fellow's respect!" Good words to live by in my books!

Once again JP, thanks for posting the content you do post! It is indeed appreciated by most of us!

I know my wife gets a headache if she hears the French language. Almost as bad as the headache that I get from reading your posts.

My wife, on the other hand, who is a lovely blend of French,Inuit & English stock would say to you...."Ma poo est ici pour vous a' manger!"
BAAAH....HA..HA..HAAAAAAH!

PS: Stupid socialist, built-in woosy algorithym wouldn't let me spell shee-it en Francais, so I had to say poo.

What a fookin' joke this society has become!

My uncle on his side was always telling me when i was a ladd, JP if you get into an insults game, peoples have succeded to lowered you to their level, just stay on the high road and you will enjoy the scenery...
Most of the times i try to live by that rule that served me well in my life giving me more rewards than downfalls, i to always enjoy to see others peoples aquisitions and even if it sound kind of simple, i like to see one be happy of his rig and sharing ... JP.

That sure is a nice group. Hope I can get close to that with mine. I must agree with you, they sure are a quality rifle. I haven't shot mine much yet (to much cold and snow) but I find that for it's caliber, it sure is a low recoiling gun. By the way, thanks for the info on the scope bases you sent me a while back.
