Well in the final days of the bow hunt in southern Ontario I got my deer. My dad went out for an ATV ride and came accross a little doe. It was curious and started coming towards him, he hit it a little back and came to get me after it took off. In his rush he lost his quiver and therefore his arrows, he met me at the house and I grabbed my bow. We headed back out and circled it to cut off the track, we heard it bleat and it just appeared head on at 15 yards. This is where things get really weird, I bring up the crossbow and when flicking it to fire the thing just goes off, the arrow goes over the deers head and it scrambles about 30 yards, I reload and the bow again goes off when I flick it to fire. Reload, then get an angle and at about 20 yards hold the red dot on the vitals and click it to fire, she went down for good within 30 yards. My dad feels a little bad because he did not put the deer down with the first bow but we made the best of it. My first deer with a bow, I have no pictures but the memories will be there, this has been a good year, first turkey and first bow deer.

way to go! But please tell me pops wasn't shooting from the ATV:confused: I would be checkin the saftey on that x-bow. Was it a xcaliber? Mine did that once @ the range this year....

No, my pops was not on the ATV, he actually turned it off, got off the ATV, loaded the bow, then started to sneak up on the deer. It seemed to be very stupid but yet again it was young and with no Momma around maybe that is why he could get close enough, spot and stalk on a whitetail ha ha.

I took a look at the bow, it is a Crisbow, I know it is not the best but I got it when I was 15 and have not been able to put $700 into another bow, mind you those Exomax bows seem real nice. Anyway, I was trying to figure out what happened, it looks like the spring or linkage to the trigger slipped out of place somehow, maybe from a branch getting in there while I was walking through the tight crap earlier in the day. I cleaned it up and could not make it malfunction again so I am gonna try it at the range and take it hunting one last time tonight.
