Haven't been much of a turkey hunter but with the new job it offers me lots of time off. So I thought I'd get into it a little more this year. My buddy just started hunting last year, so he was more than eager to get out. We spent about 2 weeks scouting our area and had a few good spots lined up to start.
Got to forest at 4am, at our spot by 4:30 and heard some good gobbling at 5:40. We got the guns loaded and gave out a few calls. We figured we had 6 or 7 birds calling back to us from all different directions. Had a nice tom with his girl come in but not close enough for a shot and walked off. Short time later we had 2 jakes come storming in to visit the dekes. And well needless to say they were both put to rest at 20 yards from the barrel. These birds were the first ever turkeys my buddy and I have ever shot. Not a bad way to pop the cherry so to speak! lol
