Got myself Remington 700 SPS Varmint.......And have problems ( Pics added)

uh huh, what magic can be performed for $100 that would turn this into a "heck of a rifle"?
All my precision rigs are remingtons......none cost $100 to turn into a heck of a rifle....I wish that was the case.
Not knocking remington, I love my 700's but lets not get carried away.

Here are two 700 SPS's with around a $100 in work done to their receivers. Hardly miraculous that they are both great rifles.

That's about your only angle. Good move.

does Remington pay you royalties for being such a nut hugger?

I got a 700SPS and it aint anything special my friend by the time I add a trigger and action job to make it as nice as my Savage I will be well over your claimed $100 a trigger is $150 by its self....But heck my Savage came with a slick trigger and a butter smooth action and it didn't cost me a dime more then the purchase price of the rifle which was also lower then my 700SPS.

So the question is if you have to spend money on a Remington to make it as nice as a Savage to shoot and your already paying more for the Remington to begin why even bother with the Remington?....I see ZERO advantages to the Remington's over the Savage's in factory form and everything you can do to a Rem you can do to a Savage for cheaper....

My box stock bvss puts 5rnds in 5/8" at 200yds your telling me if I bought the 700 Varmint SF it would shoot better?....I beg to differ....maybe after a new trigger, stock, action work and a barrel it might but why waste the time and money when you can get the same effect for 1/2 the cost from Savage.

I don't get cought up in the which make is better crap I own them all but in this case I prefer my Savage over the Remington heck my SS Weatherby Vanguard is a nicer rifle them my 700sps. I test drove them all a few weeks back when I bought my .22-250 and if the Remington was the better rifle it would be sitting in my locker.

What is funny about all this is that the TOP rifle you barfed all over isn't even a Remington. I'll address the other nonsense later.;)

Oh I know the top one isnt a rem I see the bolt and the bottom two look to have much more then $100 in work done to them both look to be sporting match barrels.

To clarify I wasn't barfing on your rifles as they are all very nice looking rifles I was barfing on your statement that implies no savage compairs to your mighty Remingtons which is laughable....So just throwing it out there how my stock Savage preforms beaverfur can confirm he was at the range with me last week 5 shots 5/8" 200yds how do your stock rem's shoot?:sniper:........how is that nonsense? my Old Stock Savage Predator shot 1/2 MOA as well pics of the range and targets are up here somewhere....

Whats nonsense is buying a new rifle just to have to throw money at it to get it to function properly like Remington owners seem happy to do....

I'm interested it rifles that work and will continue to do so rain, snow, heat or cold. One that will take a spill and not skip a beat. I'm interested in rifles that can be hunted hard on the prairies or in the mountains. I'm a lefty and know a network of left handed shooters that are also pretty serious hunters all across North America. Because Savage has offered LH rifles for quite some time they have had a tendency to work their way into their hands. All of them get rid of them. People get tired of packing an extra extractor around or bolt stops that fail. Those actions are crude junk. No thanks. I don't know of one single solitary world trotting big game hunter that clings to a Savage bolt gun as their using rifle. Remington, Winchester, Ruger, and Sako are a different story.

The middle rifle is nothing more than an SPS action, a factory SPS takeoff barrel with the receiver and bolt face squared off as a matter of course when the barrel was screwed on. The bottom rifle wears a Pac-Nor barrel because I wanted an 8 twist 223 with the same work done as the other action.

Were I right handed I would most assuredly have never owned a new rifle. A good used Remington can be had for a good enough deal to make it awful hard to look at half the rifle for the same price.

So a minority shooting group "lefties" define which rifles are good and which ones are junk now do they......lmao thats awesome.....I had my Savage predator out in the snow, freezing rain and blazing sun. I dropped it out of my tree stand and it fell off the back of my quad never skipped a beat...I'll let you know how my new Savage makes out in the snow while hunting Coyote's this year I expect I will not encounter any issues you have listed....

I like this shot "Those actions are crude junk. No thanks" your joking right? are you talking about the cheap 11 series? maybe a Stevens? cause the 16's, 14's, 12's and 10's are like butter my friend when was the last time you picked one up?....I handled roughly two dozen 700's over the last month while shopping for a new rifle and I did not cycle a single 700 action that even comes close to feeling as tight and smooth as my 12Series. If I did find one where the bolt didn't bind if wiggled slightly or it felt like it was sliding on sand paper I would have bought it!....Oh wait then there is the crap triggers the 700's come with some seem spongy full of creepy goodness others feel gritty....not crisp like the accutrigger!.....

Here's a challenge run down to your local gun shop pick up a Savage 12bvss and cycle the action and squeeze the trigger then pick up a Remington Varmint and do the same then come back here and post about your findings remember to be honest!.

Anyway we both have our opinions at least I don't have to worry about you scooping up any deals on Savages on me in the EE.....lol...

Wow how the hell did this go from a problem with a SPS to a Remington VS Savage thread
Its the same BS over and over no different then Ford vs Chevy

I don't know ask Mr. Chuck Nelson with comments like

The good news is for $100 and a trip to the smith you'll have a heck of a rifle. With a Savage a $1000 won't give you anything more than a Savage

and

A Savage, for any money, can't come close. Especially with the top one.:D

pretty much baits any Savage owner into a friendly debate could be considered baiting and disruptive behavior or trolling as you he knows full well some one is going to get rubbed the wrong way.....he's all over every thread turning it into a rem vs sav match every chance he gets.

We are still waiting to see what happens with this SPS it could be a month before its back in the hands of the owner so in the mean time there is nothing wrong with some chatter.
