i took apart my 2 no. 1 mk 3's they are both the same
as you can see the pin is still there
the only things that hold the trigger gaurd is the screw on the left,
and the screw in the middle.

an sks is kinda short for a crutch you'll have to unfold the bayonette

interesting, ive had the trigger guard off with the big and small screw. ill take a stab at it later, maybe its just stuck under the band. who knows when this thing was last apart. it was starting to make cracking sounds while i tried to get it off and i didnt want to take the chance of it breaking.

i should get my wife to help me with the hot water, were moving in two weeks and anything i pour down the drain officially wont be my problem anymore, lol

an other thing i can think of would be the buttstock screw catching the wood. in that case slacken it a bit.

i used a pair of soft handled long nose pliers one hanndle on each side
of the forestock with the rifle supported by the bare part of the barrell
and the buttstock
then tap the long nose pliers down with a bigger pair of pliers.
now you've me bubbaing.cou: iwould try and slacken the butstock screw first

i could, although the videos ive seen show the butt stock staying on the gun when the rest of the wood comes off. but thats entirely possible too especially if someone had replaced it at some point. thanks

after you slacken the buttstock screw you can have someone hold the rifle
upside down by the forend and with the recoil lug screw screwed back in about half way tap down with a half way tap down with a hammer and
a plastic drift punch.

good tip thanks, i think i may have one kicking around in the garage, if not i may have a piece of plastic in there that i could use. thanks again

here is a picture of the buttstock screw sticking out of the buttstock socket
this can catch the forend wood if it's too long.

i might just have to go to my local tavern soon to practice my slurring:cheers:

let me know how it went

I just dissasmbled A bubbed No1 Mk3, I had used a wood block to lightly tap the wood on either side of the action and it at first slowly started to move then it fell right off..

Yours has the same marking at the wrist. I was wondering what the III= ment. I have never seen the = on the wrist before. Does yours have a magizene cut off slot cut it.?

whats a magazine cut off slot? im sure someone can sort out the markings i have no idea what any of them are, lol. good to know you got yours off that easy, ill try something similar first beofre removing the butt stock and see how it goes for me.

thanks for the pic, its helpful to see how things are supposed to look when they come apart so that you know how they go back together. nothing beats guessing and hoping it went back together right when you pull that trigger, lol

you dont have to remove the buttstock, just slacken it a couple of turns

i just did it with my new rifle. you can shorten the stock bolt a bit
so that it wont happen again

gotcha, ive got a busy weekend coming up so this will turn into a next week project, if backing it off a few turns drops the stock ill shorten the bolt up a little, thanks

i'll try and find some time to answer the questions about no.s and cuttoffs

o k have a good week end. i have to fix up more lee's for
my 3 sons and a couple of cooey 22's. and take 2 of them small game hunting
for something that tastes like chicken.:bump:

do you ever get used to the brutal kit the enfields give or what? that metal butt plate is a nice soft metal but still hurts like a #####. lol.

speaking of .22, my buddy came down the other day, his uncle gave him an 1890s colt .22 pump action rifle. cool little thing, like the enfield i shot that first, probably because i have another 2 months off work and i can deal with shrapnel. so it takes 22 short and 22 long rounds. i think the trigger click makes more noise than the 22 short does. in fact we determined that at 50 yards it probably wouldnt puncture skin. not even sure if it made it through the paper at 50 yards, lol.

i hear possum is delicious this time of year, bbq it like you would steak, marinade it in a nice beer sauce, but thats just what ive been told :D
