Grand Power 22lr Pistol

Hi Canbacon, as a fellow "newbie" how are you able to post pictures. The site is telling me I have to buy a membership in order to post with pics. Am I missing something? I don't have the option to create albums or upload photos anywhere that I can see.

Yup, just host the pictures to a file sharing host like Photobucket/OneDrive/Google Drive and make sure they can be viewed to the public directly with a HTTP link. Most direct links end with ".jpg".

When you post, you should see a list of icons next to the "A" drop down menu for the font type. You want to use the one 3rd from the right button with the hover over tip "Insert Picture"(the chat bubble and the film should be the to the right of the insert picture button). Paste the URL (picture link) and you should be all set.

Just a note, it looks like the site doesn't resize huge pictures, so Photobucket would be the best place as they generate a smaller size picture for you to use for forum posts. I like keeping my photos in one place so I manually make a smaller forum side crop then provide a link to the bigger original.

Hi again fellow nutz, just an update. My transfer went through on the Grand power K22s ( gen 2 model here's hoping ) only to find out that the Ruger SR22 showed up in my local store...so screw it I bought one of those too!!

I'll report back once I have a chance to shoot them both. Cheers for now

Hi folks, I shot both and am happy to say they are both straight shooters. The Ruger eats anything and is pretty accurate. The GP is probably slightly more accurate than the Ruger but it has a longer heavy bull barrel so I suppose that makes sense. I'm by no means a sharp shooter so it could go either way for each guns accuracy. The GP had a few feed issues with the mags but I think they will wear in and it ate everything I fed it but definitely shot some better than others. The mags also have some play so if you rest the grip on the bench they push up and jam the slide. A small spacer on each mag will fix that quick enough. Ruger has a bit more recoil because it's light but they are 22's so not much to begin with.

Over all very happy with both.

Great to hear that. I may look into picking up a K22 sometime. Teaching my daughter to shoot, and because she`s left eye dominant, have to get something with ambi controls.

The ruger is smaller and lighter and ambidextrous as well. My 10 year old finds the k22 a bit heavy in her hand but she has a pretty small frame. both seem pretty good so far but the ruger seems a bit less finicky. I was at the range again this am and had some jamming issues with the k22 when it got dirty. A quick brush of the feed path fixed it but the sr kept feeding everything I had dirty or not. The k22 still seems more accurate though. I was able to hit 3" silhouette at 50 yards from a bench rest with some degree of consistancy. Certainly not every shot but still pretty happy with it.

I didn't realize the SR22's had a Canadian model. Can you post some pictures Mike?
Ruger has a history and reputation for reliability when it comes to .22lr semi auto pistols so it makes sense they worked the bugs out of the SR22.

Does your K22 have the dual recoil spring and the Grand Power stamped magazines?

Ruger model 3616

Yes I made certain the k22 had gen 2 springs and mags. It cycles well. Not as snappy as the ruger but that is expected having to move all that steel. The issue if there is one would be the mags. They are a bit loose and the rounds don't pop up in the front so they can jam a bit especially if the feed ramp is dirty.
I will post pics once I figure out photo bucket.

Thanks Mike,
Once you get the pictures uploaded to Photobucket all you need to do is go over to the list of links and click on the link labeled IMG.
On my computer clicking that link will "copy" it and then all I need to do is paste that link into a thread post and the image appears good to go.

I wonder what the barrel length is on the threaded model..... Looks close.

No info really on the 3616 on the Ruger page but I found this picture and barrel info on Wolverine's site.
4 1/2 " barrel.

Well now I do fell old! I think this is the right link. If these come through, take a look at the mags. The one with only a couple of rounds is popped up at the front. The fully loaded mag is stuck down in the front. I will be playing with it a bit when I get the time. Anu idea where to get a couple spare gen 2 mags?

Well that didn't work. The link appears but not the pics. The threaded unit is still prohibited becuase it is still to short with the adapter off. The 3616 looks a little odd with the long barrel stub but I got over it. It's still a hoot to plink with and if I was so concerned about super cool I wouldn't be shooting a tardy 2 :). Pardon the fat finger spelling LOL

So my photo bucket options for links don't include an IMG option. closest is "email IM " that's what I picked and they didn't come through, just the link. What is plan B? I have a CZ 527 project I'd like to post as well after I get the pics figured out. Stupid computers...that's why I stick to guns! If they don't work just change bullets!!

When you click on a picture in your library you will see a different set of links including the IMG one that is at the bottom of the list of options.

Your picture of the mags loaded with 2 rounds and then full are typical of the older mags.
Once you get over 7 rounds the shape of the .22lr round starts to effect the lean of the rounds within the magazine.... they start to droop nose down.

I'd say one of the reasons Ruger has had good reliability with their .22lr pistols is there magazines are well designed and keep the feed angle consistent.

Grand Power needs to address this issue.

My mags have the grand power stamp and the gun has the double slide spring. I understood that was supposed to indicate gen two but maybe not. I have an email in to grand power so we'll see where it goes. Still shoots well

Thanks for the help with the pics. Seems to be working now. I posted a project I've been working on for my girl on general forums. Check out CZ 527 carbine.
