Hi Canbacon, as a fellow "newbie" how are you able to post pictures. The site is telling me I have to buy a membership in order to post with pics. Am I missing something? I don't have the option to create albums or upload photos anywhere that I can see.
Hi folks, I shot both and am happy to say they are both straight shooters. The Ruger eats anything and is pretty accurate. The GP is probably slightly more accurate than the Ruger but it has a longer heavy bull barrel so I suppose that makes sense. I'm by no means a sharp shooter so it could go either way for each guns accuracy. The GP had a few feed issues with the mags but I think they will wear in and it ate everything I fed it but definitely shot some better than others. The mags also have some play so if you rest the grip on the bench they push up and jam the slide. A small spacer on each mag will fix that quick enough. Ruger has a bit more recoil because it's light but they are 22's so not much to begin with.
Over all very happy with both.
Great to hear that. I may look into picking up a K22 sometime. Teaching my daughter to shoot, and because she`s left eye dominant, have to get something with ambi controls.
I didn't realize the SR22's had a Canadian model. Can you post some pictures Mike?
Ruger has a history and reputation for reliability when it comes to .22lr semi auto pistols so it makes sense they worked the bugs out of the SR22.
Does your K22 have the dual recoil spring and the Grand Power stamped magazines?
Thanks Mike,
Once you get the pictures uploaded to Photobucket all you need to do is go over to the list of links and click on the link labeled IMG.
On my computer clicking that link will "copy" it and then all I need to do is paste that link into a thread post and the image appears good to go.
Your picture of the mags loaded with 2 rounds and then full are typical of the older mags.
Once you get over 7 rounds the shape of the .22lr round starts to effect the lean of the rounds within the magazine.... they start to droop nose down.
I'd say one of the reasons Ruger has had good reliability with their .22lr pistols is there magazines are well designed and keep the feed angle consistent.
My mags have the grand power stamp and the gun has the double slide spring. I understood that was supposed to indicate gen two but maybe not. I have an email in to grand power so we'll see where it goes. Still shoots well
