Has anybody had any issues with the trigger guard snapping off on the K100 MK7? How about cracking issues on the left side above the trigger? Bought a matched pair of these (one serial number off) they arrived today, and both have to go back (J & G sales in US). On one, the trigger guard snapped off when breaking it down the 1st time, the second has a large crack on the left side from the trigger to the slide release. Does anybody know if they had a bad run of these? Brittle polymer maybe? I have read a lot of positive reviews about Grand Power & their guns on this forum, and was looking for advice. I have pictures included. Sorry, they are large.

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated

Have waited for weeks for these to arrive, and was shocked when the trigger guard snapped on the 1st one. Was comparing the trigger guard with the second one when we saw the crack on the frame. I have read up on these guns for a long time, from the days of STI till now, and just this year decided to pull the trigger, and cannot believe my luck. The cracked frame is no easy fix, the trigger guard snapping was bad, but I told myself it was just a fluke & an easy to replace part! I loved the history of this company and the torture test videos had me sold..... Now, not so much :(

That sucks, haven't heard of those issues with previous models.MK7 haven't made it into Canada yet but they're on the way. I kinda like the look of the older models better...

Wow, that is terribly disappointing. I too was wanting one of those new and improved GPs - not so much now. Good luck getting replacement, I would hope it will be a complete exchange for new ones.

Waiting to hear back from Century Arms (the importer & warranty holder for the US) and J & G Sales. I have sent both of them pictures. I will keep you all up to date with what they do in response. I know Grand Power has been popular in Canada & I did a lot of my research on this forum. I CAN say they feel great in the hand, and I love the way they look. Replacement will be the only acceptable response. I just hope I hit a fluke, it would be a shame if all the MK7's have weak parts.

I can tell you how it happened, but you might not like hearing it.

Describe how you have been taking the gun apart for cleaning.

What you should be doing is pulling straight forward on the front of the trigger guard, then a bit down.
You need to slightly bend the trigger forward to clear the notch in the frame. You can see in the one picture the section of the trigger guard that sticks into the frame. You need to pull it forward to clear that section.

The grip frame crack and the trigger guard crack suggest that you've been grabbing the gun by the muzzle, and reefing more or less straight down on the trigger guard. The front of the trigger guard is having to cam over the recess to move, so you are putting stress on the frame in that area. The added force needed to cam over the recess is then stressing the trigger guard.

The Mk7 frame was beefed up in that area because of similar problems. The grip frame itself is a fairly low stress part. The steel frame insert takes the wear and tear normally. While the slide stop pin holds the grip frame to the frame insert at the front, it goes through the frame insert.

PM me if I can help.

That is an ugly crack. I was considering this brand after watching the torture test video. With your experience, I am redirected to another brand. I will send them back to the dealer. Politely ask for a replacement (immediately) or a full refund. This could be a bad batch run.

I've got a question for you. Is it easy to swap out the trigger guard? It looks like it would be pretty easy to change and the part itself should be cheap and ideally widely available in case someone else takes down the gun in the "wrong" way.
I hope that they bring the new design of the .40 takedown into the 9mm for several reasons but what's your opinion on the future of that possibility?

J & G sales are taking these both back & giving me a full refund. I will let Grand Power work the kinks out of these before I jump back in! Loved the look and feel of these, but these MK7's are going to have issues. The polymer trigger guard is so stiff and brittle on these I think you will see a lot more of them breaking. They do not flex forward. We pulled the trigger guard forward and down just like the manual and videos have shown. It is so stiff, the guard would not stay out of the hole so you could remove the slide. The cracked frame had us scared! Will be back on the fence for now. :( Looking at this picture, I assumed the trigger guard would not break when taking the gun apart, did they change the polymer mix?

BTW, you would have to be Hercules to get the trigger guard on the MK7 to bend like that, it was so stiff it would just barely come out of the hole. It would not stay out of the hole!

If I had a video host that could accomodate a big video file, I have a factory video showing how to change out a trigger guard.

It's not hard at all. The biggest issue is the mag catch tube. I'm sure in a pinch you can get it in and out without damage, but the factory recommend making a tool and show the dimentions. It's just a rod turned to the right diameter with a slight collar, to protect the tube from distortion and the frame from damage.

After the normal field stripping, you press the mag catch tube out from right to left.
You use a punch to press the trigger guard pin out from right to left.
You pull the trigger guard out.

You install the mag catch into the new trigger guard using a short assembly pin.
You install the trigger guard, and tap in the mag catch tube.
You tap in the trigger guard pin and drive out the assembly pin.

4 minutes work if you have the tools.

The picture above is of a gun that had a case let go. It's shown to demonstrate that the gun was repairable, even at the cost of a trigger guard.

You don't need to have the trigger pulled right out of the frame. It just needs to be popped down a bit.

That is what you call "GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE". Support your customer since the defect is clearly from manufacturing side. I hope Grand Power can rectify this problem. Though might be isolated batch, this is a safety concern. Hopefully, the first batch to Blueline will not see this same problem.

Very Happy with J & G Sales, wanted to be happy with Grand Power. Here is a picture of a Grand Power MK7 showing how to remove the slide. The 2 brand new guns that we received 2-27-13, taking them apart for the 1st time to clean & oil, would not do this. The trigger guards were too stiff.
