Still head to head with Glock, S&W, k100 isnt exactly priced like someone would expect in a competitive brand name market. And a new SIG pro is 40$ difference with the k100.

Marstar had the best prices. Made it more tempting to try a new brand. Glock prices have gone down since and K00s went up. That can't be good for sales. Of the three types Scarecrow mentioned, I still think the K100 shoots better. Not including the SIG in that statement, haven't tried it.

Minor tweaks, namely to the controls and front sight and a price around $650 would make the K100 a top choice. I've been tempted to photo shop a K100 and send it in to Jaro to see if I can inspire an upgrade. Perhaps it will be a Christmas vacation project.

Yeah, the price defenitly made me feel better about buying a pistol I couldn't see or touch until I bought it. The current prices are kind of stiff for someone who has no clue how nice the gun actually is, and they might end up going with something they are familiar with.

I dont see any reason why price of K100/STI GP6 cannot be 650USD( or acually CAD -This is little bit stronger than USD at the moment)

Hitzy : Be care : Glock+MP9 are DAO pistols. with ussual Browning Locking.
K100 : Hammer SA/DA, fully ambidextrous+ new locking protected by US patent. you trying compare two different things

Its crazy i think.
For lifetime of gun you fire 10 time more money for ammo than you paid for the gun. so some % diferent of price cannot be reason to buy or buy not.
in our country guys looking for users parameters more , than for price.
of course other country other mentality....

In our market you have to build your name before pricing at what the established brands do, personally I wouldn't have much of problem buying a K100 at current prices because I know what I'm getting, the vast majority of shooters would not.

K100Mk6/GP6 you may see at internet . try to check it. K100Mk7/GP7 : new frame with 4 different grips( changeable ) , new trigger mechanizm( trigger will be mount at the steel insert and it will be possible pull up together ( Mk6 trigger is mounted directly in the plastic)
Original K100 is still producing. different between K100 and Mk6 is plastic frame only (Picatiny rail at the Mk6)
sorry for my poor english

whats the difference between the GP6 and the GP7? And how do they differ from the originals?

I'm glad i bought my K100, it's been a reliable handgun for me.

The trigger reset is really short for SA and the DA pull is really smooth in comparison to my cz40p. I'd say the DA pull is comparable to the baby eagle.

Ambi controls are a nice touch. I much prefer dropping the mag with my index finger than my thumb.

The slide closing upon insertion of a fresh mag is a really nice feature. It's worked well for me in 3 gun matches.

Accuracy I can't really talk about since I haven't been able to compare it with any other handgun side to side. I will be taking it out with my cz40p and testing it soon.

As for the safety, yeah, I'm not a fan but it hasn't really gotten in my way thus far. Would prefer no safety an a decocker.

It's VERY easy to take the pistol down and clean it. I don't see why anyone would have an issue with that. Maybe because it's different?

Another thing worth mention I think is the large slide and the serrations on both the rear and front of the slide. You can get a really nice grip on the slide and work it (for IAs, stoppages, jams, etc) without ripping up your hand.

As Deckard mentioned, a small flare on the magazine catch would be nice and not too hard to make IMO.

I may buy a new one in the future and put my current one through a torture test. I would like to see a decocking version on the mk6/7 frame though. That said, they are a great handgun and I hope this makes someone less hesitant when buying one.

Will the GP7 trigger be a little crisper? Can we we expect a decocker and more positive safety lever on these "new" models?

:)
better trigger is the MAIN reason why GP6 and next GP7
about safety lever - at the K100Mk6 is enought good i think, may you tell me some comments ? what is not good at the Mk6 safety lever for you ?

and what about hangun fully wyithout safety/decocker lever ? like TOKAREV?
with drop safety only ? I carrying this combination. SA/DA gun without safety levers - perfekt for usage, only decocking you must doing carefully

I found the spongy safety changed in the Mk6. In the past, I have seen people use a thin metal rod in the hammer hole to add material to lower the hammer on a DA/SA design. I think it is a natural evolution for some sort of hammer lowering/firing pin lowering device. A slide mounted firing pin lever would be easy enough to design.

And, please, flare that slide release. I hate Glocks/M&Ps for the same reason.

I think the safety needs to lock in place much more firmly. Other than that, I have no complaints.

True, you don't *need* a decocker but it is nice for decocking quickly.

I would like if the safety was as {*snap*} positive as those on my 1911s, though I would prefer a decocker over a safety. Most of us North Americans are leery of DA/SA designs where you must lower the hammer manually.

I assume the safety is the plastic one?

The metal safety I noticed is quite positive although it is a flat safety that doesn't allow for easy condition 1 carry.

I think it would be very tough to move K100 (don’t know abut the G6P) for $650 in the US! Here in Canada guns are quite overpriced so $650 (for K100) here is reasonable since Glocks M&P and other plastic guns cost in the same price range, BUT in US you can get a Glock and M&P for $430-475, Taurus 24/7 for $350, Steyr M9A1 for $350-450...Even the new SIG P250 is $600.….$650 is a LOT of money to ask IMO for a gun that is new on the block! $450-550 would be more realistic. Just my $0.02.…
