I assume the safety is the plastic one?

The metal safety I noticed is quite positive although it is a flat safety that doesn't allow for easy condition 1 carry.

Yeah it's the plastic, another thing that makes me a little uneasy is the way the trigger guard is secured in the frame, it looks like it could possibly could pop out unintentionally. Maybe the newer frame designs are improved in that respect but a more positive method of locking the guard into the frame would give me some peace of mind.

Once you've disassembled one you'll come to realize that there is no chance of it coming out unintentionally.

I can't see it actually going and popping clear of the frame but it doesn't seem to take a tremendous amount of pressure either rearward or downward on the trigger guard to back it out to the point where it seems it could potentially cause a problem.

I really like the take down method, as opposed to HK, 1911 etc... that has a piece that comes out and could get lost. Not to mention it eliminates clutter on the frame.

I'm surprised that it should take two hands to open the trigger guard. try applying pressure from a slightly different angle and it should be easy. Or it could just be a difference in frames. Do you have the original Patrol frame?

It should be possible to fix the safety even on the original (pre Mk6) models. I used mine practising at a PPC event, and it brushed off several times in the process of holstering/drawing. It should just reaquire a deeper notch for the detent ball in the safety lever and a stronger detent ball spring. Other than this, and the pin that the rear sight pivots on working out and having to be loc-tited, I have had no problems. I would like a little better trigger pull, but guess that would require the new model.

Trigger pull adjustment may be a simple matter of a spring change. An e-mail to Grand Power might get you a new spring.

When I first tried a Patrol model the pull was really heavy. When my mk6 showed up the trigger pull was much lighter. Perfect in fact. I've had a lot of comments at the range about how nice the pull is. This would not have been the case with the Patrol I first tried out. Can't say if this is because of a different model or simply differences in manufacturing tolerances.

I really tried to get some kind of fix for the safety. Grand Power couldn't do anything about it, so I settled on the safety blending kit. I'm pleased with the change. Just have to be careful when lowering the hammer.

I've handled only one other K100 Patrol but found the SA trigger was definately not as good as on mine, heavier and not as crisp, though it was still better than any other type of box stock poly I've tried.

:)
and what about hangun fully wyithout safety/decocker lever ? like TOKAREV?
with drop safety only ? I carrying this combination. SA/DA gun without safety levers - perfekt for usage, only decocking you must doing carefully
Yaro

Yaro,

I suspect many of us will never use the safety lever either in target practice or in competition. I suspect that if you offered a model shipped without the safety, using just the plug shipped with the DAO models, many of the Production guys would buy the gun or the upgrade kit.
