I was looking a some 7.62x39 Czech ammon the other day. This particular ammunition has a green tip on the bullet and the bullet is a different profile than the regular ball ammo. The case is head stamped bxn 82.
Anybody know what it might be?

Lucky bastard is right ... Been looking for some of those for years without any luck, I'd just about trade a kidney for a couple boxes of that stuff.

Free tracer in cases of the czech surplus! Nice! I have an unopened crate of the stuff I should check, but I suppose I should finish off the 500 rounds or so I have left in my current crate...that came with no tracers...

Anyone have any odds for this happening anyway?

About 1 in 1000 by my count.

A few guys ended up with cases of it.

Cool! I wonder if there is some way to identify the contents of the case from the outside to determine if tracers are contained within?

Does that green stripe on the side of the box denote tracers?

I have a few cases I haven't opened yet...

no picture of stripper-clipped ammo on the case is one.

The boxes of tracer that were in the crate had the green stripe. The rest in the crate didn't have the stripe. The tracers were not on strippers.

Any other markings? Most of the cases without the stripper clip stencil are marked something like "paska". Some of the wooden crates are lighter coloured green and dated 62.

Well, that is good to know. Maybe I have a few mixed in with my crates. I'll have to keep an eye out for some when I get around to opening them.

I was at the Penticton Gun Show today and the only two crates I saw were at Del Selin's table and they were reserved (they also had the stripper clip stenciled on the side.) I asked if he would be getting any more in soon and he informed me that the UN is preventing the trade of milsurp ammunition right now. It seems there is no problem finding the stuff, but it has become nearly impossible to have the stuff imported.

He mentioned the name of a Vancouver importer that has eight containers sitting on a dock in China that are gathering dust because they can't legally receive them.

Yet another reason why the UN needs to have its teeth yanked out...
