Greetings from La Belle Province.

Welcome !!

Where did you take your restricted course?

Sorry I haven't answered but I didn't notice the comments until now.

The board takes a while to get used to and find out where the new messages have been posted.

I did my course and challenge at a Pecheur et Chasseur club in Lachine, it was extremely interesting and now I just have to wait for the letters from the government.

Sorry my french is totally horrible and I am not even sure if I wrote anything correct. :p

Welcome - :)

It sounds weird that you need to wait to find out if you passed or failed? When I did the course, I had my results in hand right away. Is this some weird extra paperwork BS from QC ?

Heh not sure but I think nobody except for me thought about asking the instructor if we had passed or failed, when he told me that I had passed he was busy giving the exam to another student and I was collecting my snacks and jacket to go home as I had been there for around 11 hours.

In Qc you get a card (for NR) and a letter (for restricted) by mail as proof of the training. You normally know verbally if you passed.

Oh, I thought I was going to get one or two letters from the CFC and then had to apply for the PAL and RPAL through the CFC form that I get from SQ.

Well I am still going crazy with anticipation but I think everything comes to those who wait, just don't go nuts while you wait. :p

whats up Sleepless!
same boat as you, still waiting for the first letter. been like 2 weeks now.
guess we cant do much but wait.
I just waste time figuring which rimfire i`m gonna pick up first :sniper:

Good Luck!

Well just start saving up some money and you can treat yourself to a rimfire as a present to yourself when you get your letter.

Good luck. :D

for the letter it was about 2 weeks similar for the card for me. I have sent in the application paperwork and it will be there a month on june the 8th so yeah I am going crazy a little but you learn to relax cause you cant call them really till about 45 days after. I am still going with a friend when he goes to Ville St Pierre club usually mondays it helps so I would talk to peter2772000 an take him up on his offer, you will feel better. it is all the advice I can give.

Well hope to see you there some day when we both have our cards but I think you will have more practise then me when I come there with my card.

Just keep checking the CFC website and I am sure you will have it in your hand soon, good luck and enjoy.

Hejsan Sleepless,

Welcome to the club, you'll see that there's quite a few guys (and a few gals) from La Belle Province on CanadianGunNutz!

If you think waiting is hard... wait until you actually send in for your permit... But the worst is waiting for you very first restricted purchase... (Hint: Don't buy a restricted long gun as a first purchase... they take a "little" longer to process in QC)

Au plaisir,
Michel.

Tjenare Michel. :p

I am looking at buying a .22 LR handgun as a first weapon to learn the proper stance and how to shoot and actually hit something and aiming among other things but I am gonna rent all the handguns that the club has so I can try them all out and see which one I can handle the best and the safest and then working my way up from .22 LR to 9mm to .40 S&W to .45 ACP and maybe some day .50 AE but I think that will be a few years from now. :D

Sleepless welcome to the forum and welcome to the school of PATIENCE!
We are all much more patient people now that we are firearms license holders and you're being initiated the same as we all were too. It sucks, but it's just the way it is unfortunately. Just wait until you see the amount of BS you have to walk through to get that "dangerous" .22LR handgun you want! LOL

They give an English course there?????

According to my instructor he is the only one who gives the course in english in all of Montreal, it seems that Club de Tir Ville St Pierre used to but Info-Secure has for the time being revoked the permission for the club to teach the courses which I think is a damn shame because then you could possibly also get some hands-on experience at the same time.

Are you looking for a course or have you already done it??

Well red tape normally takes a long time and costs too much no matter what it is but I am used to it, just need to come up with something to do to make the days go by faster.

Everything comes to those who wait, it just depends on how long you wanna wait and dealing with the government, how long they will make you wait. :bangHead:

Yup! My gf took her course there Mother's Day Sunday. 90% on the RPAL, challenged the PAL & got 80%. That's ma gurl :dancingbanana:

I read on the CTVSP website that Info-Secure won't let CTVSP handle the courses anymore, do you know why and is there any way we can fight them on this??

I am quite annoyed that I came to the Info-Secure website and no information was in english at all, my french is extremely bad and I had to click on every link to try and find the info for the courses and the amount, I would think that an organization that is contracted by the Canadian Government to handle firearm requests and information should have a website for both francophone and anglophone, even the Quebec Government has a website that is bilingual even though some important sections are only in french.

Was thinkin of taking it.

Was thinkin of taking it.

I have PDF versions of both the Pal Study Guide and also the RPAL Study Guide so I am gonna see if I can upload them here and we can put a sticky on it so all who need it can be able to download it and learn before taking the courses or challenging the courses as they prefer.

I did my course on the 31st of May and today 12th of June I got the card, hopefully I will get the letter soon too but I talked with the people at the gun club and they told me I should have a psychiatrist write a letter stating that I can own guns because I have depression and I don't want to be denied because I don't fit the depression view of a person being suicidal just because he has depression, even my family doctor told me that I don't have depression because I don't feel sad but I will call CFC and ask their opinion too because I believe that I have depression and my doctor tells me I don't, it is gonna be interesting to see what the psychiatrist says.

But I am gonna do all I can to get my RPAL as soon as I can because I want to start shooting.

Oh so that was your gf who was firing off those .38's, she does some good shooting but she also has a good trainer, btw thanks for the lesson, I learnt a lot, including not to go up to a stronger caliber until I feel that I am ready for it and especially not to shoot a .357 Magnum for a VERY VERY VERY LONG TIME. :D
