Grips on my Beretta for production

Hi all,

I'm shooting a Beretta 92Fs in production. Right now it's got the standard Beretta grips on it, and I'd like to change them. Based on production rules, what are my options? For instance, can I get the hogue grips that come stock on other Beretta's and use them on mine to shoot production? Thanks! Alex
 
it's a 92 series, that means you can use any grips designed for the 92, wrap around, not wrap around, whatever. and they are all Production legal.

huh? Does the 92 come from the factory with wrap around grips?
 
yup a number of models of 9x series guns came with Hogue wrap around grips. the only grip you can't use is the slip on sleeve. there have been standard FS models with the "grey ghost" wrap around grips, Inox ones, G models, Compacts, etc etc etc.
 
So just to make sure I understand, if a Beretta 92 came from factory with "X" grip on it, I can use that same grip on my gun, and I can buy it elsewhere than Beretta?
 
Correct. You can use aftermarket grips that have the same profile as the factory grips. In addition the factory wrap arounds are supplied to Beretta by Hogue, so using a hogue grip is the same as using a factoy grip anyway.

Personally I like the factory hard plastic grips, though I may add some grip tape.
 
Thanks guys. I think I,ll be getting some Hogue Wrap arounds shortly. Now for another questions, rather tan starting yet another thread I'll ask it here Anyone know of a production spring that is lighter than the one in the 92FS?

LOL, sorry, a recoil spring. I've been storing my gun with the slide locked back for a while to help it, but it hasn't helped it out much yet...
 
Nope, to the best of my knowledge there is only one recoil spring available. There is a reduced power hammer spring, part no c9001 or C99001, can't remember which. It gives around four pounds less on the the Da and 1 pound less on the SA.
 
why would you want a lighter recoil spring? Trust me on this, you want the factory one in the 9mm and heavier actually in the .40

I figured that with a lighter spring, the slide would lock into battery smoother than now...
 
Word is that a lighter recoil spring will wear out your frame prematurely.

If you want lighter recoil, light up the load on reload ammo.
 
my cz grips are almost toast because of miquito repellent it melted the #### out of it... can i use CZ costum grips that was designed for the CZ?
 
Another question now that I think of it. Does any Beretta 92 come with the steel guide rod? Or do I have to stick to the plastic one to shoot production?
